Best Off Road Tires

TireRack still shows them backordered today. Their site says 7-27, but that date has changed at least three times that I've seen. From 6-15, to 6-26, to 7-17, to now 7-27. Always at least two or three weeks out...

HA! And in the last couple hours, they pushed it back another couple weeks: 8-8...

Nine months. I coulda knocked up the Michelin Man's sister and she coulda BIRTHED me a set faster than that...

Says the guy from Kentucky. A whole different type of wheeling out there... Lots of mud etc. A/T's pretty much rule the roost in So Cal, they're a perfect all around tire, and do amazing in the desert. A BFG A/T would do well in Utah as well.

X2. I have been really surprised at how well my BFG A/Ts have done. they actually hook once you air them down, they are quiet on the road, and last a long time.

the sidewalls take a beating too.

Interco TRXUS mud terrains.
this is a very underrated tire actually. ive seen a couple sets around, and they do very well. but they are pricey.

sidewalls may take some abuse, but ive personally broken bands in multiple sets. and as i stated on the first page, i honestly dont wheel hard. BFG basically told me "oh well." only tire of theirs i would run is the crawler if i had the dough. for the price of the KM2, there are other options.

as far as A/Ts, what about the duratrac? i had planned to buy a set new, until a used set of STTs in great shape fell into my lap. as i said, they did great on the only trip ive done with them.

I blew through sidewalls like crazy on BFG ATs. BFG is NOT known for strong sidewalls.

I was only airing them down to 12-14 psi as well.

33x12.5 on 15x8s.

And see, i would disagree with you. A/T's are for the tow rig. Once you unload your rig from the trailer, you're going to want some kind of MT tire on it..

I have no idea how I haven't blown a sidewall on my treadwright retreaded BFG ATs. It sure isn't driving skill. They're paper thin.

I will probably run Treadwright MTDs next. They're an MTR knockoff but a lot cheaper and I am a cheap bastard.

Best offroad tire though? Gotta be Gumbo Monster Mudders or Firestone Military NDCCs.

Lol gumbos!

Just my $.02
My maxxis trepadors allow me to run 75 mph down the freeway and still grip amazing on the rocks and throw mud while cleaning out well.

I run my 33x10.50s at 10psi on 15x8s and my sidewalls are in great shape. the tread lasts a long ass time. but my jeep is 80-90% street driven, with about 15000 miles of freeway every year, so I wanted something that would be quiet. the MTRK didn't exist, and neither did the KM/2. they both came out months after though.

I know BFG is not known for strong sidewalls, which is why I am surprised at how well they have done.

when I get another set, I won't get A/Ts though, and I won't be DDing my jeep. I will be moving up a size, and getting either nitto trail grappler M/Ts or MTRKs. for a rock-crawler that still sees some street time, I don't think you can do much better. I don't imagine the maxxis CCs do well on the street.
