4.56, running them now with 33x12.5 and it's perfect. Wouldn't want it any deep (aka 4.88's). Ran 4.56 and 31's for about a week and it sucked. Engine would overrev and the tranny would shift out way to fast.
Best gear for 33" tires / 96XJ/auto???

Did I miss what rear axle he's running? d35/8.25 I'ld go 4.56s for different reasons. d44 - 4.88s.
EDIT: I didn't read the whole thread till now so I'll elaborate.
4.56s deepest you can go with 8.25.
I have 4.88s and 33s. perfect fro cruising up to 75mph@2800 or so. great offroad.
Oh, and I have an auto.
