Best fitting oil pan gasket?

I always use about 8 small zip ties to hold the gasket to the pan while installing. Once the pan is held loosly on place by the four corner bolts and a couple of the side bolts then just cut the zip ties and pull them out of the way. Then finish installing all of the bolts.

Also, start tightening in th middle using a side/front to back star pattern to bring the pan up evenly.

If you suspect that your timing cover/front seal is leaking at all, replace that before you put the pan back on.

I use a little nylon fishing line or string to tie the gasket in place through a few of the bolt holes, then cut and pull the string out once in place--cheaper than zip ties.
