Crosspost from Pirate 4x4 thread this morning:

<MadMonk> "this is going to be our 8th open ride there. the last ride was big , and a good time as always. this one is going to be a bit different. we are having a benefit ride on march 11th for one of our fellow 4 wheelers so we want this to be really big. we'll be cooking a pig and selling plate lunches, having a raffle and probably a 50/50 drawing. we have a few nice items for the raffle and are still getting items donated. if any of you vendors out there would like to donate anything please let me know. any and all help is greatly appreciated. our buddy is 29 and just married 2 months ago. he was diagnosed with a type of thyroid cancer in july or august . he had surgery to remove lymph nodes and also underwent a round of radiation therepy. needless to say the medical bills are here and he was going to sell his jeep to break even. we are doing this ride to help ease the pressure of some of the bills and so he can hopefully keep his jeep. all procedes from the ride will be going to him.
anyhoo bring your rig , your friends, & your camera, and get ready for a good time. direction are here http://muddevils4x4.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9
the playground is located in thomasville nc.
hope to see you guys there!
scott"

My buddy and I will be heading up there early Saturday AM (the 11th) hopefully some other NAXJA folks from the region will come too.

It isn't so much trails as a private rock garden with a bunch of obstacles (from what I've heard anyway - never been up there)

Maybe BIGWOODY will chime in here with some advice / wisdom???

It is not a set of trails, it is a bunch of obstacles. Anything for any buddy. Stuff is close together so a person can wheel whatever obstacle they want. Stop, watch someone else, then move on. Playground is a very appropriate term for the place. You can walk to most of it in 15 minutes from the parking lot.
Ideal for the type of event Greg is talking about.

I am out of town right now but will get with Grant and see if he wants to come down.

It's worth going to. There will be a raffel for some nice stuff, including (I know it isn't a jeep, but) a 90' Toyota 4runner tickets are $5 for the runner and can be bought via paypal. Here's a link for more info on the ride, the raffle and the playground.. http://muddevils4x4.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=5
other raffle items are $1 a ticket and can be purchased the day of the ride.
All the obstacles are close to each other and I have just as good of a time watching as I do wheeling. There are obstaces from mild to just about undoable. There are pics of most of the place on our local clubs forum, don't be discouraged if you see a lot of pics of buggies, they aren't required to run most of the place. This is a benefit ride, we will be cooking out , camping, campfire talk (telling lies, beer drinking etc....). This is private land that the owner lets us use free of charge, all money collected will go to support a fellow wheeler in need, our club profits nothing from this. I don't know if I'll be done with my buggy or not by then, hopefully so, either way I'll be there watching/supporting the event. Everyone is welcome, we aren't "trail snobs" if it runs and you like to wheel it, that's all that matters. Anymore questions fell free to PM me or post them on our website. One thig for sure, you are guaranteed a "show', there are always rollovers and major carnage on the more difficult lines. There are always highly modified rigs/buggies great for "stealing" design ideas. Everyone is helpful and no one is left in the woods, come on out. Greg

Carolina Rock Shop has put up any PSC ram (with exception to the "bling" ram) single or double ended and some gift certificates. Local vendors are putting up stuff as well, come on out.

what are ya gonna drive Big Woody, did ya get the new buggy done ?
It'll be pushing it, Have to do brakes, fuel lines, a little more wiring, and get the panels painted. Im hoping ot have it done, but if not it will be sitting on my trailer as advertisment for the builder.

come on now, you know you can do it, get off the cpu and get to work on it
looks like mine may just be sitting on the trailer...still waiting on some parts. I'll probably be driving my buddies CJ7 with a 406/doubler/rockwells/44's....so it should still be plenty fun for me. This looks like its going to be a big event, yall come on out.

you guys will love this place. its lots of fun. Even if you just watch, you'll see more carnage than hanging out in Tellico for a week!

I'll have to get the trailer done and the tcase swapped. This sounds like the kind of place for some fun!
