got my hands on some factory skids for free.:gee: steering, rustys diff skids and tc skid. still working on getting factory gas tank skid. all factory skids are off a 99 xj. finally got full size and spec spare, just not the same tread, but im not THAT picky.

do you have the factory gas tank skid? is it worth getting for my 99? i do some medium level rocks and lots of trails and my gas tank is getting chewed up

aparke, the factory gas skid on this 99 looks beefy, almost 1/4 thick maybe. ill see it after 3 today forsure.

if it's 1/4 it's not factory then. Factory skids are 14gauge sheet thats been formed. But don't count those Out Thats what I have and it's taken a beating and held up great. NO complants from this guy.

yeah thanks i was wondering b/c they are a cheaper than an aftermarket and i am not seeing any major rocks anytime soon but see stumps, branches, neighborhood cats etc - mainly trail objects would be the only encounters and i guess you could always add to the skid if you wanted? thanks again

just got it off the donor :laugh3: not quite 1/4 inch thick but it will suffice. looks sturdy enough for free! will have do some cutting and manipulating to make it mount. my hitch is welded to the frame rails(?) so i wont have it on till tomorrow. aparke if its cheap, get it, its not bombproof but worth the effort to install.
