Is there anywhere that you can drive on the beach and camp as well. I would like to take the family on a beach camping trip and hope to be able to do a little mild wheelin too. I was thinking anywhere north of half moon bay and I am willing to drive 3 hrs from dublin/san ramon area. Thanks

Lost Coast ?
There was a run there a few weeks ago. Check Sierra Chapter schedule and a thread on the subject.

You can camp at the Usal Beach area along the Lost Coast. The beach area is about 45 minutes north of Fort Bragg....

the only place i know of that really lets you get into the sand is Pismo beach, in Oceano.
not in any way north...
definetly a family place, loads of kids on quads and dune buggies
camping is fun and cheap there, make sure to bring lots of firewood!
its about 20-30 minutes south of san luis obispo.
totally worth the drive, you'll see some amazing stuff out there!!!

Not true... As mentioned, there's Usal beach. Also across the bay from Eureka, there's an ORV park that allows beach access as well.....

Thanks guys I will have to check out Usal beach. Any good web links with directions?

Just Google Usal Beach... there are a lot of different write up's about it...

I will be at Pismo this weekend if you want to meet up with our group. Saturday 9am-Sunday around noon.

PM me if you want to come. I also still have one extra reservation if you need it.
