I'll do my best to get a locker by then....I really wanna do orange.

Better start looking or order an Aussie!

I want an ECTED but its far down the list!

Re: Badlands trip?

putting a locker in a stock rear axle is a waste of money.
planning which locker and which gears to put into which axle
takes a great deal of research.
then you have axle shaft choices and u-joint choices as well.
not to mention t-case and SYE choices. Drive shafts...

same thing with tires.
don't buy 30's..then 31's...then 33"s

take your time making these choices is what I am saying.

go to the tech section and ask questions.

I'm going to disagree BOB. Locking a 29 spline or D44 would not be a waste.

Re: Badlands trip?

Especialy if the dana 44 is 30 spline....the 8.25 are 29 spline. Both of which are great axles locked.
Right. You knew what I meant. :D

"great"....I disagree.
acceptable? Yes.
Optimal 8.8 or 9inch with rear discs.

Next thing you know, you'll be requiring D60's & 37's for your green trail group.:roflmao:

Re: Badlands trip?

As long as there is financial aid from NAXJA MWC for the axle swaps I'm in! :)

Hey guys, I hope i can make this trip it will be my first "real wheeling" trip. I hope to have gears and a rear locker by then too. hope to see ya guys sounds like a great time
Kevin.

Hey man, hope to see you there, even if you dont get gears and a locker. I'm gonna be open/open, and still havin a good time! :)

SPOBI!
The 30/44 combination is fine unless you are going to run over 35" tires.
Most people here will not be going bigger than 35s.

If you want to put a locker in a 30 or a 44, go for it, make sure you think about gearing first so you don't have to do things twice.....

I guess it all depends on what your future plans are.
I an not going bigger than 35, my 44/44 combination with alloy shafts are GREAT!
I have wailed on them and not broken anything, except for the stock shaft, and the defective Yukon outer that was replaced by warranty....

Re: Badlands trip?

i have 35s on my 8.8/30 combo, so far its been great, 4.88s and an aussie upfront.

i am planning on getting some Goodyear MT/Rs in the 37" flavor, and going with aftermarket inners and outers and ujoints. and possibly the superior kit for the 8.8"

but before that there are far more important things to get done to my rig imo
