It wouldn't be a wheeling trip without a good drive there/home story. Dan had the trip from hell getting there, I had it getting home.

Are you saying just the SYE or the whole case? This case is now pretty much junk. I found an older 242 on e-bay for $50. Or I found one local with 38K miles for $200. Quite a bit less than an Atlas.

BTW, I didn't break the case, it broke all by itself!

The cheap one is a 21 spline but I think I can just swap the input shaft from mine.

It's the best I have ever seen scale captured though, might want to stick with that lens.

yep, nice pics bob, it's funny, most of carter you can't see him, he's gonna be a great jeeper someday, I know, he's just as good as me now.

he kept telling me that 'the guys' told him that he was better than me behind the wheel.

I know he's better than me, he broke nothing where as I broke EVERYTHING!

That lens was just too long. It is was a 100-300 (on the digital it's a 150-450) and I never had it off 100mm. I thought it be good for filling the frame but I think I'd have been better off with the 28-105 I have. The good thing is the pictures turned out. I was having a problem with everything from that camera being out of focus. Thanks for the compliments.

I went back looking for parts from my t-case. I found a small gear on the side of the road. I'm thinking maybe one of the sun gears from the low range planetary??? I'll get pictures when I pull it out.

you can...however sometimes the way that the gears are cut i've heard of people having noise issues with doing a swap like that...

We'll see how it works out, I got it for $75 shipped. I'm starting to think maybe the noise and tight spot I had in the front end was the t-case and not the R-P. That'd be nice as it would be one less thing to fix, we'll see.
