Anyone running Nokian Tires

if you like what you have y not go with the cooper since they are the ones making them. i have a set of cooper discovery stt's and love them. they take whatever i can throw at them and like it. they balance great and ride smooth and quiet on the road.
whatever you decide you want to ship me your old tires, im selling mine to go bigger and need something to use till i get my new ones after i sell what i have now.
if you want to sell them give me a price

I have been running the Nokian Vativa AT on my wifes Mountaineer for 4 years!! She is on the second set now, first lasted almost 70,000!! Awesome tire, great on snow and ice!! If the MT is anything like the AT I would buy in a heartbeat!!

You know, I've noticed that some of Cooper's other brands are actually more expensive than the actual Cooper's themselves. I've loved the new STT's tread pattern since they came out, but I'm (maybe) halfway through my current set of BFG ATs and the cheap bastard in me won't let me get rid of them.

I have noticed that also!
 
Cooper builds tires under the Cooper, Mastercraft, Dean, and Lexington names plus some others. They also own Mickey Thompson and Dick Cepek.

Pro-Comp and Nokian tire companies are not owned by Cooper. They do however contract Cooper to build many of their tires though.

That may explain some of the price differences plus the fact that MT/DC tires are much lower quantities on a production run.
 
I just bought a set of 33's. I immediatly put them to the test. I am not deceived. These tires plow , dig and just plain keep on truckin' through the deepest snow, loosest sand and cruddiest mud out there. I love'em. And they are at such a bargain, I dunno why I don't see more out there.

I saw this thread, and had to chip in,as im a Finn livining in Northeast PA, and really always was a Nokia Fan.

Back in the old country Nokia Winter tires was/is the only reasonable choice, their performance being legendary.

About 2 years ago I bought a set of "Vativa" tires for my 2000 XJ. size 225 70 16. http://www.nokiantires.com/en/tire_vatiiva.aspx?season=summer

All I can say is they failed me miserably.
Terrible wear patterns, which lead to shaking, balancing problems and poor braking performance.

I'll try to take some pictures later, but this to me was a huge Disappointment. I switched to Avon Rangers last week, and Its like a new car.

That is odd that your set faired so poorly. I've been running a set on my '88 since late Feb, commuting 82 miles a day 5 days a week. I like mine and they are wearing great. They were previously on a '87 Dakota 4x4 and did great on it. I guess we I'll see what happens. Usually 3/4-1 ton trucks with diesels are the hardest on this tire because of it being an open shoulder design. Most all brands of tires don't do well unless they have a closed shoulder like the Firestone Transforce HT or AT.

Ok, so far, I have around 1000KM's on my Nokians now and still love them. They do how ever make a little more noise on the highway then when they were new. I've run them at 8 psi with out poping the beed off. They are magnificent in the loose sand, water crossings, clay wet long grass, compacted dirt and in deep mud. The roost they provide in the loose dirt and mud is quite impressive. I highly recommend them to all budget minded wheelers out there.
