Anybody in favor of ected??

$540 delivered. Ask for the "socalxj" price.

some crack has em on E-bay for what he claims is 500. I would not buy from him! (shipping was additional $35)

I was high bidder at $355 for several days, he canceled the auction day before it ended claiming to "of made a mistake and put reserve to low"!

I didn't think he could do that, guess he can. His name was metalmut. I was pissed, but oh-well.

party1: IT WORKS. well after many problems with my old ected they decided it was best for both of us to send me a brand new one. not only that but they didnt' just send the unit they send the full install package lube wires switch all the good's my hat's off to auburn for there customer service they were very pleasant to talk and work with.

performance: just finished putting it in and took it for a ride around the block it locked like it should when engaged it would scrub the tires with no slipage of the locker. i have yet to test it on the trail but it already seems like a whole different animal than with the old unit. after some more extensive testing i will let ya all know as to how i feel about the ected

conclusion: as of right now i feel that all the problems with my unit were because of defects. more info to come with more testing.
This still holding up?

I forgot to update on mine. I had some issues at first with mine not locking, but on a recent run it was working correctly. Mine seemed to just need some break in time. At this point I'm very happy with it's performance not just as a locker, but as a limited slip as well.

there was a few time were it didnt seem to lock up fully, but it was workin a milloin time better than at nac fest

Mine has never let me down.

You are right about the LS....Many times I plain forget to engage the switch!! Its very good system. Only defeated when you lift a tar off the ground.

As of right now my ected will sometimes pop when its not engaged. I dont know what the problem is but I'm going to try changing the differential fluid and see what happens. It'll usually pop when I am doing a sharp right turn on pavment, and its especially profound when I'm more generous with the gas pedal. I'm thinking that the LSD is locking up and then sliping in a fashion that creates a pop.

sounds like my detroit in the rear.
Sure you got the LSD additive in the diff?

I'm not 100% positive. I had a 4wd shop put in my ected and I had the friction additive with the ected when I handed everything over. so I hope they did but I cant be totaly sure. I have the replacment diff oil and the replacment friction additive next to my front door, so I'll find out when I replace the oil. I just hope that nothing has been seriously damaged.

anyone have one for a 44 yet? there have been a few issues, but i think this is still the way i want to go...front lockers are more effective anyhow, so the d30 will get an ox, but i just want an ected for streetability in the rear...now if only they would make one for a super 44...dreaming

well, I just received my ECTED for the D30. I'll try to take lots o pics of the install for a nice write up. But dont hold me to it.

Another update from me... About a week ago I changed out the gear oil along with a new diff cover. When I refilled it I used Lucas 80/90 with NO additive, per the bottle's instructions. Since then it's been running fine. No noise from the LS on the street (like you would get with "normal" gear oil and no additive). On the trails it seemed to do fine. I wasn't hitting anything real technical, but I know it managed to pull me through everything I tried, even without locking it up most of the time. :D

I purchsed a D30 ECTED and also had proplems with it. The first two times I engaged it, it popped. After that, nothing. I played around with it inside the diff. and noticed that the magnet wouldn't pull the "washer/plate" over far enough for the locker to fully engage. I've sent it back and they worked on it and sent it back. The engineer didn't say anything about it when I talked to him on the phone. I got it back last night and played around with it. I hooked it up to a battery and still the same thing. It pulls the shims but the "washer/plate" doesn't get pulled all the way over. The "washer/plate" I talk about sits between the coil and the locker housing. It basically as the same OD as the coil. For those that had problems with theirs, I was wondering if you noticed the same type of thing.

I do have to say though, great customer service when you can get a hold of someone.

Any one have any UPDATES to add???

a friend of mine has one in his rear 44, and it pops as well. It "locks" but that makes the "popping" when it is forced to slip (say a turn on pavement) much more pronounced. We took it to the shop and they couldn't find anything wrong, they replaced the fluid and made sure there was friction modifier in it, it still pops ever so lightly when turning and not engaged.

I tossed the locker in and it now engages and disengages but to disengage it I have to completely take it out of four wheel drive and drive around a bit. The engineer says it just needs to be worked in a bit, so we'll see. So far no more popping.
