I've got to call SPOBI on this one. I know plenty of principals, 6 to be exact. They are on the 260 day schedule like most other people. They may get 3 weeks of vactation, but that is because they have been on the job for a while, in the districts I know of, 5 years. Principals, in Illinois, don't fall under the NEA contract stuff, except when it comes to retirement. That is because they were teachers who worked their way up. One of the principals I know, would put in a minimum of 6 days a week, 10 hours or more per day. You would go past the school at 8;30-9 at night and he'd still be there, then back at 6 the next morning. This guy would go to people's houses to discuss their kids progress and what he could do to help them. I don't know how much this guy gave away during the year, to families that needed it, but it was a lot.
