Aftermarket Headlights

i just got an email back from truck-lites co and this is what they said

Thanks so much for your interest. Yes, we do have plans to develop a 4"x6" and 5"x7" version of the LED Headlamp. I would give you may be seeing something on these versions within a year. Thanks for your feedback.

hopefully they arent just telling me what i want to hear. i'd like to have a set of LED headlights =)

I got the Autopal housings and HID kit from TCM_GLX (bajahid.com) and while I haven't hooked up the HIDs yet, I did just put the housings in with some Sylvania Silverstar Ultras. Even though they aren't the ideal bulb (I plan on getting better ones soon), the difference was huge. And that's with the stock harness. The next day the difference was even bigger! Definitely upgrade your wiring harness...my headlights died because I'm pretty sure I overloaded the wiring. Luckily I already have the BigOffroad harness, and it will be installed tonight. :D

I swapped my Silverstar Ultras out once I learn about how short lived they are. I went with Philips Xtreme. Cost $32 w/shipping (after conversion) and they arrived in 3 days (maybe a fluke) Silverstar Ultras are 50% brighter than stock and the Phillips Xtremes are 80% and about $20 cheaper.

On a side note I also run the Autopals

Found out it's actually my headlight switch. Gonna fix that, maybe just wire the lights to a toggle for now and put in the harness.

The Autopal H4 ecodes are still at the top of my favorite mod list. They've preformed flawlessly, they get alot of use too as I work the overnight shift and depend on my jeep at work.

They look sweet, but their output's suspect.

Anyone know where I can get some quality projector housings for the HIDs?[/URL]
You could make your own projector headlights. You'd need something like a set of FX-R projectors (for $175), some fresh headlights, an HID kit, wiring harness, and a good chunk of free time.

Otherwise you could do what I suggested in post 6.

I've been running that kit since 2005 (I paid less than $850 though)

I was pointing at their explanation more then the kit.

I run the autopals... good value... I like that its an easy install (assuming you don't have rusted screws) and they work a lot better than the old units. I'm not into the blue tint bulb, but I can change that out easy.

i wonder if i can get the bajahid's to fit into my kc slim lights =/, im looking to convert them over to HID and create alot more light then i have now.
There's nothing special about that baja HID kit. It's just a generic kit; there are thousands like it on ebay. Just find-out the bulb type in your lights (H3, H1, etc...) than buy your HID kit accordingly. Just keep in mind those KC slim lights were not designed for HIDs so you won't be able to use them onroad ever again (assuming you ever did).

Now If you're asking if you can fit the actual ballasts into those lights than my answer would be for you to get off the crack lol

Complete retro fit kit with fx-r projectors and 55w bi xenon balast and bulbs for $350 shipped!!!!

Yeah theretrofitsource is a great place to buy parts.

... i tried using them on-road, i adjusted them to hit with my low beams and everything, and well everyone that came at me wanted to high-beam me, so i dont try and run them anymore =/ although idk how those lifted dodge, ford, chevys get away with their 2 fog/driving lights below their bumpers, their often brighter than their headlights

They get away with it because you're in CA. They piss me off too. It's like a wall of light and I'm left blind for about 15 seconds after.
I got my Autopal housings in with some Sylvania ultras in them, they're good and bright. However, my only problem is I took it to a shop to figure out why the lights died the day after I used them. They said the headlight switch was bad and since I didn't have any extra money to put into a new one, he wired them to my former foglight switch. Now the brights are stuck on. I turn on the lights and the brights come on. I aimed them down low to try and minimize the glare and I do very little night time driving right now. I'm going to call them today to see about getting that fixed. I'm also going to look into how much a new headlight switch costs.
