I recently had my 2001 XJ NV3550 manual transmission rebuilt and upon re-installation, the shifter decided to not perform as usual (no detents/no centering/have trouble finding gears, ie; 5th goes to 2nd rather than 4th when downshifting). It's like trying to shift with your eyes closed. I didn't have any problems when I changed the clutch two years ago and I'm at a loss as to why. The shifter looked good, the little black tab is in place... got me. Any Ideas? Also, does any one know if an aftermarket short throw shifter is available? Everything I've been able to find is for the AX (pre-2000) transmissions. Thank in advance.
