99 up e350 dana 60 axle width

Ok idk then, the dana 60 bible on pirate said a complete stock one is 550 or so.

The build thread on pirate of a guy who did a rear 609 said it came out assembled at like 300lbs. That was with a HI 9 and 5:38s.
Meh what ever the weights are I'm not sure, point is I like ford 9s and the almost endless possibilities on them.

I'll have to look into the rear brake options a bit more. How are the rear spindles attached on these? I'm cutting the ends off to maybe re-use them on my 9 housing.

14 bolt is about 450lbs with disks. a full float dana 60 is probably 50-75lbs lighter, but dont quote me on that. The housing itself for either isn't that bad, it's the hubs, brakes, and internals. A 14b carrier with locker and ring gear is definitely no featherweight.

i would prefer weight wise to not work with more than what an HP D30 weights assembled minus the brakes. carried that alone last night and it wasn't fun, real trick is putting it on the ground without dropping it.

back to axle specs and such....
i have the parts from an early 90s E350 with drums, i would like discs, use the RuffStuff kit or is there another way that i can use E-brakes with?

if conventional cable type are too much then i'll probably go with a type of electric line lock system. the XJ is an auto so it's not too big a deal but if i park on a hill i prefer to have some of the weight on the brakes instead of just the trans.

That weight is for a front 60 not rear, I doubt mine weighs over 350. Also when getting the rs disk brackets get the d70 ones as that axle has d70 tubes

ok, cable e-brake or none at all then hahah

found this in my local yard today... E350 van?

I'm running a Dana 60-ISU out of an '89 E350. Converting to discs was a pain to figure out - I suggest doing what I did, which is detailed here: http://naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1079325&page=11
I also see no way to run a factory E350 parking brake without using factory backing plates welded to the old-style flanges. While the factory calipers are much larger (dual-piston I believe), honestly if I was doing it again I would do exactly what I did, again.

I'm also running an electric line lock - you can see that further in the thread. I use it only for on the trail if I need to park on an incline and get out of the vehicle as a safety measure. No real need for it otherwise.

thats what i was thinking for mine, it's an auto so not as important as having one in a stick.

i am most likely going with a ruffstuff rear disc kit
