90 MJ for parts

motor, trans t-case is yours andy.
PM me how you want to handle payment and other arrangements. I'll have the drivetrain next week.

alright fools. I'm heading over to pick this thing apart in about an hour. So if you want anything post up.
So far the axles, doors, drivetrain and tailgate are spoken for.
ANything else? I'll see if it has a full guage cluster, if it does I'll snatch that too.

if Gil passes on the outer rear fender panels (mid wheel well back) If they are in good shape and you have a sawzall. I'd want them.
If the panels don't have rust, I can meet you mid may (13th?) at the Badlands.

...BOB

Bob, the fender wells are pretty much shot. Nothing good above the flares
I'm going to grab the tail lights, they're in good shape, so if anyone needs one of those.
The flares are still in good shape and haven't been painted. So I'm gonna grab those.
The interior is in great shape, it's a gray bench seat interior, dash had no cracks if anyone wants that.
It didn't have a fuel gauge cluster so that's out.

Gil,
The tailgates got some surface rust, it's some big patches, but its not through the metal yet. You still want it? I smacked the rust spots, seems solid enough, you could sand it down and paint it without going through the metal.

I'd like the passenger side rear flare if you could.

yours mark.
You going to the badlands in May, that's when 'm bringing Andy's drivetrain, could meet you too, or I could put it in a box and ship it if you want. not heavy just kinda big.

I'm in no rush, get it to me whenever. Just that the bottom of mine is a little melted from where my former tailpipe exited.

ok. I'll probably get to pulling al the misc parts this weekend. We're going to pull that motor and stuff on sat it looks like. I'm going to strip whatever I can so he can haul it off to the JY.

Thanks for checking on it....

Think I'll pass tho...

Thanks...

I've got some more pressing projects to attend to...

:D

alright then. I'm probably going to grab it anyway. I'm filling the garage with spare parts ;)
So if you want it I'll have it.
I just got done tearing aprt the free D35 I got. Spider gears look melted. Some nasty stuff in there. Shafts are good though, and can't beat free shafts.
Still debating whether the 3.55's are worth the effort to getunder my Heep.

Not if you are regearing axles... swapping entire assemblies maybe, but not resetting R&P's. I have a XJ D30 & D35 geared to 3.73 if you wanna swap them in, just weld new perches on the D35. I'll even throw in a detroit locker.

If I did it I would just swap axles.
The d35 has blown up spider gears.
The d30 has new u-joints and bearings done last year Bob tells me.
The problem with me just welding new perches is that I don't have a welder and I don't know how to weld. but I could take all the measurements off of this axle and have someone do it. just tell'em to make it look like that one.
3.73's would undoubtably be nicer than my 3.07s, and that's the most popular gear ratio for the 8.8, so it would match nicely.
How do you think 32's and 3.73's would get along with my 5spd?
lastly, whatcha want for it, cash in a birthday card? ;)

I wheeled 32's and 3.73 gears on my '97 for awhile, worked alright and good on pavement too. Don't you have a 4.10 D30 there already? Just hold out for a 4.10 8.8 and do it once.

nope I don't. I thought that all the 4 banger MJs had gotten 4.10s, but apparently this one got 3.55s...
So anyway, whatcha want for 3.73 axles?
According to my handy dandy crawl/speed calculator
http://www.manoian.net/jeep/gear_ratio_calculator.html
3.73's and 32s gives me a final crawl ratio of about 38:1, and should still be quite nice on the road.
65@2K RPM.

Did the MJ have a 4-speed manual? I think Eagle has one like that.

You want both? Or just the D30? The D30 is from my '97, so it is a non-disco HP w/ 297 shafts and about 90k miles. I swapped in the older style knuckles though, since I plunked it under the '89 Eliminator and wanted the brakes & bearings to remain the same. Probably could use new ball joints just as a precaution.

The D35 is from an early XJ, so is a non-c-clip version and I have several sets of spare shafts and a Detroit to install.

Make me an offer.

well, I've got enough spare non c d35 parts. I've got spare shafts and now housings.
What would you want for just the detroit?

If your going that route, I've got a D35 /w/ 4.56's (Open, non c-clip) if your interested.

And Travis has the matching D30... this sounds cool with my Detroit.

jeebus, it's like you guys came out of the woodwork with d35's!
I'll have to sit down and figure out what the hell I want to do. The 8.8 is calling my name, but I don't think I'm going to go bigger than 31's or 32's any time soon. I could take the money I would spend on the 8.8 and be most of the way towards fixing everything on the truck, or starting my stoker project. Of ourse if I build a stroker I'll NEED an 8.8, I'm sure the turdy five wouldn't take it.
AHHHHHHH! It's enough to drive me batty. Only so much truck money and so much I want to do.
