90 2-dr 5speed rebuilding into a dd

make sure there's a thermostat in it when you get a chance-- I've seen a bunch of 4.0s all gunked up like that and the one thing common to all of them is a lack of thermostat.

That is very interesting... Wonder what the thermostat has to do with it? Not getting up to operating temp may not burn off condensation or something? I've had a few gunkers like that myself...

Well, got the new injectors installed and she runs on all 6 cylinders. I'm so excited to get this far, now to start cutting out the rusty holes.

Compressor crapped out at this point

This seems common on the 5 speed ones I have messed with. My theory is the fluid from the MC eats the paint and undercoating off causing it to rust out.

I think you're right about that. I've even had an early 5 speed 4 cylinder that had leaked onto the bulkhead connector enough to cause severe corrosion and even led to an electrical fire (small, but a fire nonetheless). I ended up having to splice in a bulkhead connector to both sides of the firewall before
I could really call it "right" again. This was on an 84 2 door...

Yea when I replaced that pan in my 84 when I started welding it in there was cluth fluid on the bulkhead connector. I did not know this till I set the jeep on fire.... Needless to say I swapped in a new dash harness because the fuse box was gone.

Well decided to sell the wj and turn a 00' xj into my dd. But I can't leave it stock so gonna be putting a 3" lift on it sooo. The white xj was set up for a 4", but with the shackle relocation kit its ending up 6 1/2". But now I need some shocks for the dd seems, craigslist to the rescue. A MTSU student was selling skyjacker Hydro7000 shocks for CHEAPPP. So swapping shocks and redoing the rear, bolts coming out soooo much easier. lol I will have white xj (so need a name) rear back together. Until it dies and I can move onto a 8.8. I am sick but I love tooling on this little jeep.

I started cutting out the new sheet-metal to be welded in. There has got to be a faster way to cut than waiting for my compressor to recycle, I get maybe 1 1/2" cut before I run out of air.
