your the son with the CJ?

cool!

I'm with Mike - I got no spare parts!

Hello Ranger.... I am the son with the YJ ... and MJ now. I got rid of the CJ. Traded it off for a 1988 Jeep YJ.. It didnt run so dad and Myself began to go through the wiring. Turns out only thing wrong was the ground from the battery to the body.

I got a date with a sawzall coming up.

:D
there's a guy on the comanche club boards that has one. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=355
SWB or LWB?
There's also a local guy here that's parting out a 91, it's a 4 popper SWB if anybody wants anything off that. He doesn't deal with the internet, he's my parts guy, I have his phone if anyone is interested. He took the front fenders and header, his son hit a dear with his 86. it's an AX-5 2wd I think.

not bad lookin mj if i do say so myself. and since everyone here is makin mj clubs for 87s only then im gonna start an 88 club since they are popular too it seems on the comanche club site.

Nice looking truck, Aaron... same mirrors as mine. Your rear springs look healthy too.

To answer your question Les, I used Rusty's 4.5 coils and LCA's w/ a 1.75" poly spacer and RE drop brackets, and KYB Monomax shocks for a 2" lifted TJ in the front of my MJ, with a custom trackbar and 1-ton inverted-T steering in the works. The back is stock springs on top of the axle. I used stock XJ rear shocks with the MJ spring plates because it was convenient at the time, but they don't offer enough travel. I have enough room to make lower shock mounts about 5-6" lower than where they sit now and not pass below the bottom of the axle tube, which will allow me to fit much longer shocks. The front end handles the washboard roads and sand dunes at the Badlands really well, but I bottom the rear short shocks too easily. It is only a short amount of work away from being fun at high speeds as well as low ones. I have 33's, 3.55 gears, Puegeot open disconnect D30 and spooled D44.

I have some 15x7 chromies available if you want them. AR tailgunners.

3.75 or thereabouts. I have 4, how about $80 for the rims? I have 2 T-cases, a 242 and a 231. You have an auto or manual tranny for that thing? I have 2 auto trannies as well.

I have an automatic....Its not the AW4 i know that much, Do you have one? I'm not sure which T-case is better..242/231? To be honest I dont know if there is a certain combo you need to go with certain Automatics, and certain Manuals. Fill me in. I'll have to talk to dad about the rims.. or he will post. lol

The 4.0 would have the AW4. But since yours is 2wd you need a 4wd version to mate up to the T-case. I have a AW4/231 combo from a '88 MJ w/ 123k miles that would work out great for you. I'll cut you a good deal since you're Wildman's kin.

I have an update on the MJ.
The rear brakes when we got the thing were gone. The fella' we bought the Jeep off of said there was a leak in the rear on one of the brake lines; so he just unplugged it from the Master cylinder. I wanted to get them fixed; so dad told me to pull the jeep up on his car trailor and work on it up there, (since his car was out of commision in the garage)

Started to replace the lines but the 'fix' soon became a bi**h. Now we are having to replace from about the middle of the bed back. Went to Autozone but they didnt have what we needed-- So I ended up ordering them, picking them up tommarow evening. (weather permiting)

As bordom began to overwhelm me I started visualizing what i could do with no money. I noticed my bumper was sagging and rusting off the A$$ end of the truck, So i decided to tear the dude off. Then I decided to do something about the exhaust. The muffler had the ends rusted off and was wired up, hanging by only bailing wire. The rear tail pipe looked god awful (according to dad) so he decided to take it off. I called up a buddy of mine who had two 30 some odd size glass packs, asked him If I could have them and put them on. We cut a turn down pipe so that it cuts off right in front of the rear D35.

Alot of piddly stuff, but I am having a blast working on it! I'm ready to sell that Wrangler though! I need to get this thing lifted, and four wheel drive SOON.

The brake lines are easy to do... buy a double flaring tool and a bender and make your own from the 5' lengths you can get at any auto parts store. You can bypass that load sensing proportioning valve gizmo too, just replace it with a tee.

Oh, I have a decent tailpipe and muffler if you want it. It's from the '88 longbed that I parted awhile back in case you get tired of the glasspack.

I designed a fairly simple MJ rear bumper, ask 87manche for the final dimensions. It reuses part of the factory bumper brackets.

I beleive that is what we're going to do (double flare) The proportioning valve we're just going to plug off. Do you have any pics of the bumper you made. Right now all i'm going to do for a (makeshift bumper) is use a stock CJ7 front bumper, Use the factory mounts and weld a place to put a d ring shackle on it. But I would like to see some pics of this bumper you made! I'll have to look at the muffler and tailpipe when we come down, I might have to take it off your hands.

there's pics of my nasty bumper.
Simple to build, real stout, just not that pretty. If you need any more measurements I'll get them for you. If you need any more pictures the same. Your pop's saw it, he can attest to the ugliness and functionality. Mark's original design called for some sexy 2x5 box, but the channel I used was free, and allowed for a slightly shorter overhang.
