I received this jeep from my Girl friends mom.
The bad..
4inch(or more) of rear lift with STOCK shocks.
(old owner had fat people pile in to it to get the shocks bolted and now one of the leafs is screwed and the shocks are at full travel

front 2" spring spacer and has a broke drivers side front shock.
the front swaybar is bent and when you make tight right hand corners it binds up in the tire and spring.

needs breaks.
the list goes on right now..

My Future plans
4.5complete Leaf kit with new everything for the suspension.
New bumpers front and rear
33" tires with jeep 17'' rims

The good.
has a strong 4.0l and a great shifting 5 speed

My worries will a SYE kit be needed probably going to stick to 33" and nothing bigger and will just see light trail use more mud than anything.

I drove it all the way from atwater ca to modesto down santa fe.. she was horrible with the rear suspension but the motor/trans ran strong.
it dose need a front seal and a bit of wire work but over all nothing i cant tackle.

On to the pics.
Sorry (cell phone pics)

Any free, running Jeep is a good Find! congrats. and Yes you should have an SYE over 3.5" of lift.

oh so you're going for looks. see you at the mall :yelclap:
haha just kidding. search the grand cherokee front driveshaft in the rear and see if you can save a dollar instead of buying a custom one
haha.. mall rated kid approved?

Looking at a rough country 4.5 spring lift and t-case drop mount.
and an sye kit. for about 700 bucks is that a good price?

might go looking around some local junk yards for some parts.

the wiring on the inside is more then fubar. and no lights on the dash work at all. at least the gauges read.. not sure if they are correct or not. but plan on getting an all new gauge after the lift is on.

ill look into the cherokee driveshaft idea. i saw an sye kit for 249 and the driveshaft was around 200.

you can get a full Sye for under 200$ and use a stock front shaft from a junkyard rig with an aw4 and get that shaft for 34$. you'll be into SYE and shaft for under 250$ total.
as for the lift, consider using mud flaps.com for cheap leaves and cheap coils, they have dirt cheap stuff on there.

Ill check into that thanks!

only their coils and leaves are cheap. and track bars. everything else is pricey.

Wlecome to NAXJA from a fellow Modestan. Depending on your budget check Pic-n-pull or Oakdale Auto Wreckers for lift kit parts. It seem like there is always something usefull at those places when I go. Also the classifieds on here are real good.

if you are going to be running short arms, just look for some cheap used arms.
or drop brackets.
get some decent leaves and coils , and good shocks.
for example, you can get some decent RE 4.5" coils, 3.5" leaves, and beefy shackles for 415 all new.
get some decent bilstien 5100s or 5125s for cheap used, or buy them new.
then wait for uppers and lowers, or drops. id hate to see you spend a grip on rustys or rough country and get a bunch of crap that you end up replacing really soon anyway, like track bars and arms.
for 689 I'm guessing you're getting RC.

I have a NP231 RE SYE kit for sale. Ill shoot you a PM

Looks like a nice find with great potential.

FWIW, I run the 4.5" RC kit with full leaf packs. Got it for $605 shipped 4 years ago. Mention NAXJA when you call for 10% off. I love the kit and have wheeled it for 4 years without any problems (that I remember atleast).

thats the one i found on ebay.. i probably wouldnt buy from them, but i was just researching parts and what not.

I would definitely order through RC themselves. Easy to deal with and awesome customer service. If you call, try to speak to Jason. He is (or used to be) active here on NAXJA.

Ill see what i can get here from junk yards and what not.. if i can find a full lift on a rolled jeep or something i will go that route.. right now as it sits it needs a lot of suspension work, and wiring..

dude go through RC on here on Naxja. get a hold of grimes 99xj, jason, he will hook it up with RC stuff.

grabbed the camera and got some pix.
