Hey,
Not sure if there is a right forum for this here but this was my best guess. I just got into to trying to teach myself how to arc weld. I went to a local shop for some more rod, after telling him what I wanted to end up doing, he gave me a handful of 80T rod that he says would probably be great for what I'm doing, and tells me to come back when I need some iron. Any of you guys have experience with it? I can't find any information on it anywhere. I think he said to run it 80-90 amps but my memory sucks :D Any information on this stuff would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin

I already went through a bunch of 6013 and I'm semi decent at laying a bead. I'm just trying somethign different, do you know about this 80T and you're not telling me? :P

Also see if you can find some MG-500,its a little pricey but its an excellent rod that would make a 3 year old look like a pro!

6011 is the best rod you'll ever find for working on some of the stuff we work on. The beads are ugly, but it will burn through just about any surface imperfection such as rust or paint. Plus its easy to get the arc going. 6013 is a nice step up for clean metal, the bead looks nicer but its a little less forgiving.

You start getting into the fancy rods and you can make some REALLY beautiful welds for a stick, but if you don't have 6011, get some because its always good to have around.
