did the 8.25 come with an lsd from factory?

Some did. Usually the Upcountry package or Offroad package or what ever they called it that particular week.

Actually, when I was purchasing my XJ there was another XJ with similar options, a bit lower miles, the 8.25, and the Upcountry package with the LSD for the same price.... but it was black.

My 2000 two wheel drive sport had LSD 8.25. I pulled it because it started to wine. Now I'm rebuilding in with stiffer clutching for my 97 4x4

My 98 Sport had an 8.25 w/LSD. I snapped one of the thrust washers on a trail and ended up replacing the entire axle. I'm running an open 8.25 now, but will install a PowerTrax this Spring.

My 2000 sport has the track lock works good in the mud and snow sucks on the rocks.
