I have a 93' Cherokee, currently 337,000 miles, daily driver 225 miles roundtrip to work M-F. Mechanic friend I use work for years with Jeep as service Manager, he tells me to keep driving it, I should get 550k miles out of it?? He says Jeep stopped doing the straight 6 4.0 because thay lasted forever and were not selling any new cars because of this? I asked if I should get a rebuild motor ready for when the day comes, his answer is no, he doesnt trust them, that i should just pick up a used motor with 150k miles and he will drop that in for me. I am keeping my Jeep period! I dont care how many times I have to drop a new motor in it. Should I buy a new 4.0 to drop in? should I get a rebuild? from who in So.Cal.?? should I get the 4.7 stroker kit? Engine lifters are starting to knock when cold in morning, should I drive it till its done before I pull the motor?

I say, if it doesn't smoke, has oil pressure, keep it! Mine ran with a slight knock and it took me everywhere! It did however, have low oil pressure.

When the time comes, call Russ. You won't regret it.

Russ, for the win. Stroked or not, he'll get you a reliable motor built.
