Today I recycled 140# of steel and the empty weight with me(187# buck), 1/2 tank of gas, full size spare, jack, and maybe 10# of misc. was 3200#:

HA!! I know that yard, PG Scrap over in Greenbelt. My last copper haul paid for my Miller 211 back in September.

No carpet, rear seat, headliner, trim in the back, or speakers atm(need another set). It does have a mopar hitch. 96 SE 2dr 2wd ax15. The SE didn't come w/ pw, pl, rear wiper, or tach, but did have a roof rack that I took off.

My stock XJ (4 door, AW4, 4.0) weighed in at ~3200lb on the scales.

My piggy, built XJ weighed in at ~4200 lb IIRC.

Our race 95 Cherokee 2 door 2wd AW4 with gutted interior came in at 2,677 lbs with a full tank of fuel and no driver. Still surprised at how light we got it.

Mine still has AC&components, windshield wiper/res, charcoal cannister, and passenger seat, so the lowest I can go is ~2900 for auto-x.

So I recycled more metal today and with me in it(185-90# w/ clothes), 1/8th tank of gas, no spare, no jack&lug it weighed 3000lbs. It's ~2800#! I will be adding leaves to stiffen up the packs in the near future. Since last weigh, I've switched to a 25# miata battery, removed beefy mopar hitch, and removed the plastic gas tank cover.

My XJ Laredo weighs in at 3450lb with a 1/2 tank of fuel and no driver, and that's despite it already being lightened by 75lb (removed gas tank/tranny/engine skid plates, removed roof rack bars). Still has everything else that it came with from the factory, and is 4-door 4WD.
I could easily drop 120lb just by removing the rear seats, front passenger seat, spare wheel, and the jack/handle/lug nut brace while still retaining all my other creature comforts.

140# of steel only got me $8

As scrap your butt is worth $10 if it was steel and your XJ $160.:)
I need to find a scale near me.

I probably will go with the composite leaves to lose another 80+#. I haven't ditched the ac yet, even though I've only used it once or twice this summer. Rich people could pay Hesco $2K for the aluminium head and lose another 30#, which would be a good part to shed weight due to its high location.
