2014 MJ (code name Abby)

Need to source a steering box and fuel rail with injectors, donor parts are too far gone

Looking really good Kris. This is a great build thread!

Getting a lot of little things done:
-Cleaned up, painted and Installed the 4wd shifter linkage
-Installed the axle shafts and wheel bearings, need to pick up some front pads to go any further

Broke the steering box bolts off in the box on the donor so i picked up a nice box from a 99 durango V8 4x4 at the PAP, much beefier and a lot cleaner, installed using the durango bolts and the comanche original bracket, in one piece and great condition:

Picked up the parts to fix this the right way and use with my Prime 4x4 terminals I won at Moab

To do big items:
-Fix door hinges or install late model hinges
-Figure out some gas tank/emission box arrangement
-Wiring :(

Fixed all the terminal ends, the right way !

sorted all the wiring out, wasn't as bad as previously thought, basically kept everything in its place and separated the Left and Right tail light pigtails and ran them out the back of the cab, going to make jumpers to connect to the tail light since they are not long enough to reach the rear using 2 late model harnesses, trying to avoid any splicing

tracked down, cleaned up and installed a fuel rail and injectors from a WJ

Installed a Rock auto fan shroud and new electric fan that was a warranty replacement

also installed late model door hinges, wiper motor, doors, bed, gas tank, emission box, filled the fluids and completed a engine test run at 1752 hrs today, more to follow...

Took a little break over the Holidays, slowly getting back into this.

-painted and installed rear driveshaft from 2wd XJ
-installed XJ rear shackles to lower the rear a bit
-custom made and installed jumper extensions for the rear tail lights using the existing XJ harness and 2 JY tail light harnesses, so its clean and just plugs in with out splices. I sorted the wiring harness and ran the separate lines out the rear of the cab, on on each side for each tail light, but this only reached as far as the axle, so it needed an extension to reach the tail light cavity.
-tacked in the rear axle to the mounts, still need to set pinion angle, I don't have a gauge
-installed MJ barke cable on the driver side and used the existing XJ cable on the pass
-installed the brake lines and bled the brakes
-installed roller tires off the XJ, enough to move it around for now while I move on to the next step of body work
-Installed V8 ZJ tie rod assy from JY, since the XJ was shot, much Beefier !

set of shocks, and rear lower shock mounts from ruff stuff are on the way, and that should take care of the major stuff, then on to the body...

I wish I had the OCD to make my drivetrain look like that.

I get in too much of a hurry and just want to be done with whatever it is i'm working on.

Looking awesome! Can't wait to see it all one color and the final wheel/tire package.

x2

x2! Threads like this make me not want to post one about the 88 I'm about to get started on.....

Thanks for the compliments !

Shocks and Perches came in yesterday and installed today...

also started fabricating the rear tail light cavity, after some debate, I'm going with late model XJ, it's not going to be as difficult as I initially thought, grabbing some sheet metal tomorrow to fill in the gaps (yes the lights are broken, using these old ones so I don't damage the good ones during fab)

Nice touch using 97+ tails, Kris!

Worked on filling the gaps today, I don't own any big cutting tools, so I had to use a cut off wheel on the grinder, getting it all straight is a pain, it will look a lot nicer when finished, besides im not building a show truck, just an MJ with a little more life to live...
