Keep Rockfest, but make this the event that moves, it can be our spring run. Make our national event our fall run but have it at the same place. Those are my suggestions.

thats a good idea. but some may think it gets "old" wheeling the same spot every year. some of the old timers say that about moab at the FF. and to some extent i can agree, but there were some trails that i would hit every year.
EDIT: but with az's weather it keeps the trails constantly changing which is awesome!

We've gone a week without any news, anybody have a date they would like to suggest? If we slowly pick at it and get things hashed out one by one we should get this thing squared away so that people can make plans. I think we need to get these thing squared away and the rest should be cake:
1. Date
2. Location
3. Camp site; Public Land, Private Property, or an actual camp site.
Then we can follow up with making a schedule of events, getting vendor support, getting national approval, and finally letting everyone know.

So... How long do you want to make this event? A weekend, 3 days. 4 days, maybe a week? I'm ok with the dates Stewie posted up.
We need a name,where, and when to get the event posted up in the event section.
So TM basecamp at the KOA? mid to late Oct?

when we were running we mentioned wanting to have events all over the state. I understand with the economy and all, but do you think we would have participation if we had it in Tucson? I know we have members down there. For me the drive down there is not much farther than it is to FJ. Or something in the pines.

Most of the trails in the Tucson area from what I have seen are easy dirt road kind of trails that lead to a play area. I'll talk to Brian and see what he knows about down here, I'm sure he would be willing to lead a trail also, but it will be in his buggy.

Just talked to Brian and he said we have a day trip kind of area not an event hostable area. We have very good play areas but not good long trails.

Still no funds. WoundedXJ is MIA.....hmmm sketchy.
Anyway I aside from TM and FJ I dont think theres really many other possibilities for hosting our national event. I suggested the cracks in Heber, AZ but I feel its just too far for Members to drive being a good 3.5 hr drive from Phoenix. On top of which none of us no the trails. Ive only been there once and wed have to get some aid from HCR in order to Host it there.
