I already mentioned I'm out after my rear axle died last weekend. Will probably drive the altima out and try to find a seat to ride along.

i want to be maybe 2 or 3 rigs behind the leader. that way i won't get stuck at the bottom of the hills and won't get to take pics of everyone

It doesn't seem like it's gonna end up being all that snowy 
So I'm ok with being toward the front and helping people up stuff if/when they need it... I'll let you work stuff out Rob. Maybe everyone on that list oughta get PMed and asked for a rig/equipment list and how much damage they're ok with so we (I'll help if ya want, Rob) can make a rough outline of where people's rigs ought to be in the line...thoughts??

Damnit! sellout.woot.com just had a Pentax K20D w/ 18-55mm lens for sale for about $580 today and I missed it
I wanted a new/nice camera too, esp since I am going to be wheeling again and want to be able to shoot pics. I haven't had a camera (nor really needed one) since the 2 MP one I got back in 04 (which my brother broke while camping in '06). Now I want something nice but have got to the point of "buy Jeep parts or buy camera" so I have been waiting for a hell-of-a-deal on a camera which I missed. Oh well, off to CL, gotta be something for sale with the economy the way it is.

I wonder how cheap I could pick up an 8.25 with 3.07s for at a JY (if they even have one).
Kinda tempting to try and see if I can swap a whole new axle in. It will suck on the trail with 3.07s I know... but at least I would have the Jeep there :dunno: I just don't want to waste the money. Anyone got an 8.25 with 3.07's I can borrow?

Well I got the shafts and brakes... Hmmmm.
I could have it back to you shortly after the wkend if I can borrow it. I have a 9" almost ready to go in and will be regearing the D30 for the time being... Just won't be able to have both done before the weekend I doubt.

If I can wheel the rig it may be worth the drive, and I work in Franklin so I am half way there every day. I can just go after work some day (as long as I can borrow my fathers vehicle since it may be tough getting the 8.25 in an altima... though I am sure it could be done if needed, I have fit more than that :laugh
I guess I should check what I have for spline count. I bet its a 27 but then again idk. I picked up a JY axle when I destroyed my last one and never knew what year it was out of. Maybe I got lucky with a 29. :dunno: Any easy way to tell other than cracking open the diff?

One thing I noticed was the e-brake cable on the 29 spline had a tab that held it to the diff cover while my orig 27 didnt. Same with my uncle's 29.

That would be because the e-brake setup on 97+ is different than 96-.
29-splines started sometime in 96.

just toss it in the backseat! lay down some boxes or something to keep the interior nice

I have one of those altima coupes cause I refused to get an auto and couldn't find a 6-speed sedan, so no backseat route.

why does it matter how many splines it has if you're just gonna bolt it in and beat the piss out of it?
