will this zerk: 1/4" NPTF fit into 1/4-28 Inch fitting like on the tie rod and drive shaft? If not, what is the difference between the NPTF thread and 28 inch one?

1/4" NPTF is a pipe thread, whereas 1/4"-28 is fine screw thread (UNCF.) They are nothing alike. No worky.
