xxx-xj build

f150s are a little long eh?

Yes. I have a bastard pack with an F150 main leaf. The HD brackets work great in that citation.

How the steering lines up. Not to bad!

Showing the links. Good clearance at the starter.

Passenger side needs finish on rosets.

Drivers side and track bar bracket added some gussets to it.
Well better get back at it more pics coming!

Ok making head way! Up front I have Fox 2.0 Remote resivor shocks 12". Here is the upper shock mount.

I think I should have enough clearance around the shock when it flexes! As it sits I have 6" up and 6" down travel. I have no bumper or winch on so It should end at 5" up and 7" down. I may do some plating of the shock tower. Any sugestions?

Yea rethink that. I might be wrong but a hard hit coming down and those will rip off the thin sheet metal that you are welding them to. Any way you can put some plate in there that will spread the load?

i agree with ghost you really need to rethink a lot of what you got goin on there, theres a lot of stress on that mount at all times and i dont see that holding at all..... plus even without a bumper and winch the fox 2.0 air isn't enough shock for the front of an xj, its going to push off and unload pretty bad. 2.5 airs are far better suited for the front of a full bodied rig

" Naw mang looks good."

Go fast, take chances, run it. It'll hold........... for a while.

Jokes aside, your spring bucket needs more plating for that design to last.

They are only smooth bodies, the springs are holding the jeep up not the shocks. If they were coil overs it would be differant. That being said, I would still add some plating to the sheet metal.

doesn't change the fact there are some major forces being applied to the shocks when compressed/extended (especially if not properly bumpstopped/limited)

I'd think a circle of 1/8th" surrounding the hole, and some simple flat strapping formed to the sheet metal, running up to the pinch seam at the fender wall, and down to the frame rails would help quite a bit.

I would suggest you remove the shock mounts for now.
add the plating.
then remount the shock mounts onto the plating.

otherwise your just re-enforcing the area, but not what the mounts are attached too, creating a weak point for them to tear away from.

unless you plan on adding little gussets from the plating, to the mounts.

Here is the finished plating. I don't think there will be any problems with them ripping out. Got to love seeing progress!
