XJ Pulls out Baja Trophy Truck

You add water to that stuff, and all you're going to get is a mess.
as long as you're not using it for something dirty.....
I have a jar of silt I collected as a souvenir from the '08 VtoR. I can't even open the jar without getting that crap all over. No mater what he uses it for, he's going to get dirty :D

I'm not a fan of ole' Jesse "DB" James, but I can't really knock him for getting buried in silt. (Other then the part where if you can afford one of those trucks, you should probably learn how to drive it,...)
Nasty, nasty, nasty stuff.

It seemed like he knew what he was doing (at least to some extent). He pre-ran the course and everything, and was coached by a baja driver that was on the build team.

That silt is some nasty stuff. Jesse didn't end up finishing the race- after that setback, he broke something on the rear end and couldn't continue. Then again, less than half of the trucks that started ended up finishing that race, so I'm not too surprised.

So just how many Trophy Trucks ended up STUCK for any period of time on the course?

Like I said, I won't knock him for getting buried in silt. That doesn't mean he has the experience or talent to drive a TT just because he can afford (or get somebody else to pay for) one. Laughing at Jesse James' screw-ups is along the same lines as paging through the photos on wreckedexotics and laughing at the people who wrap up 200k sports cars. As I said
if you can afford one of those trucks, you should probably learn how to drive it,...

Ok, so no one has answered the still mysterious question!!!!!

Why did that expensive, powerful, purpose built rig of Jesse's get stuck and that seemingly fairly stock XJ get around in it just fine - better in fact - and STILL be able to pull that high-dollar rig out?????

Hmmmm???? :D

watch the vid i posted yella, i would think the XJ was sitting on hard pack dirt and the trophy truck was buried in the silt bed, thats what it looks like to me from the pic that was posted. i ran into a similar situation in Johnson Valley 2 weeks ago. a buddy of mine had his k5 blazer buried trying to pull an XJ out, both buried in the silt bed at the base of the big dune out there, and i pulled up on the hard pack off to the side of the main trail through the silt and pulled em both out at once. standing next to it without knowing what to look for you really cant tell the difference between silt and sand.

because the driver of the XJ knew what he was doing,...
and the driver of the TT didn't.

Id say for a couple of reasons.
1. The XJ has 4x4, TTs are 2x4 i think...
2. Weight, XJ is atleast a K lighter, sitting on similiar tires
3. Skill, Jesse James just thinks he can drive (ami right?)
4. And the XJ is def sitting on something other than silt, otherwise you just straight to the bottom.

the xj obviously has a better footing, as well as 4x4, shorter wheel base, 4 lo, and mud terrains (cant see for sure, but they look agressive)

the tt has excessive horsepower, bfg t/a's and 2 wheel drive...

its a symbiotic relationship, lets not hate jessie cause he's got a TT and we dont ( at least i dont)

i can link to video of bj baldwin high centered, does this make him a bad driver?
its hard to see stuff when your doing warp speed in a trophy truck.

xj's were born to chase.

that being said, i think its funny how he built 2 tt's, selling one for scrap at auction... then he finally goes to porter for them to build one for him. even with the porter, he doesnt win.
he does however ironman the 1000, which is nothing to sneeze at.

That's BFG BAJA T/As. Different animal. About the same as a MT, with a softer compound.
...,lets not hate jessie cause he's got a TT and we dont ( at least i dont)
I don't HATE Jessie just 'cause he has a TT. I don't hate him at all.

I just don't like him,....

I think hes just kind of a D bag with more of an attitude than he has skill...
You have to admit some skill in the Motorcycle fab world. I mean that is what got him to where he is today. People would nto have paid him the big $$$$ to build a ride if it was not something special.

And how does motorcycle fab skills translate to being an excellent TT driver?!?

Sure his bikes are pretty cool, id love one, but very different skill sets IMHO.

Just saying hs has some skill, did not say he had driving skill. :shhh:
