I have a 2 door 94 XJ..umm there are only 3 grab handles on the inside...

But for some reason there isn't one for the driver.

I've seen them in other vehiles all the way around. I suppose you are supposed to have both hands on the wheel?

All 3 of the XJ's I have had only had them for the passengers. I do believe that you have the logic correct when assuming you should have both hands on the wheel. I did have an '87 Blazer with grab a grab handle for the driver.

Man, I used to bash my head on my Blazer's DS handle all the time. I never understood how the passengers didn't whack their noggins getting in and out.

any driving situation that would make you want to hang on to a grab handle would prob be a good time to have both hands on the wheel haha, most cars and suvs only have them for passengers, but I have thought it might be nice to hang on to one while crusing

mount that useless handle from the rear hatch inard on the A-pillar

it works pretty well, but i'm not short so i've not done any chin-ups on mine

If you get into a situation were you think you have to grab a handle. You should really grab something else. Like the wheel or the gear shift or your crotch. Utter the words" this is gonna hurt". And hit the gas. Robt.

Get one from a junker or the one from your rear hatch and put it there. The holes "should" already be there in the metal because of export (RHD) requirements. All you need to do is put matching holes in the A-pillar plastic. I'll be doing this this spring/summer.
EDIT: Sorry, I typed "A-pillar" and it's actually above the door, but the the holes are still there.

I did this same modification to mine. It's nice to use for climbing into a lifted Jeep rather than yanking on the steering wheel.
Your right about the holes already being there. All you'll need to do is trim out holes on the plastic trim panel.
