XJ Exhaust Manifold mugshots (Is this a knock-off of a Banks Header?)

Re: XJ Exhaust Manifold

The autopn.com site is no longer up. new name maybe?
Anyway, I'd like to find a nice header without crushing bank account for my 1990 XJ 4.0L (Renix). The first factory manifold was replaced under warranty many moons ago and the replacement certainly sounds as if it cracked. Have found these two possible replacements as i tried to follow autopn via google.

FYI autopn is now www.ineedparts.com

Does anyone know how either this header or the header found below hold up to DD and some off road use?? I am pretty sure I am way passed the crack header club... I have a hole in my exhaust that I swear looks like someone used a tool to punch in there... so going to have to replace my exhaust, and want to take care of the header issue at the same time, and these prices are awesome... if anyone has any input to either the one above, or the one below!!

there are quite a few people running that one with good results, myself included. mine's been on for a couple months now, i'm very happy with it. pretty beefy and nice complete welds, doesn't look like the typical "chinese part". like pretty much all the others, i had to clearance the last runner because of slight interference with the new header and '99-up intake. also, due to the bend in the pipe, the bolt under the #4 ex manifold piping can be a B!TCH. i used a stud/nut to replace that bolt, worked well and i was able to tighten it up just fine.

Looks like they might've upgraded the exhaust manifold and the previous links don't appear to be working so here's new ones.

I installed this APN header a few years ago & probably 40k miles ago. No problems since. I'm not a wrencher but I just followed the instructions that came with the header. Didn't install any expansion tubes or anything. I did have to get the catalytic converter changed a few years ago since it was clogged and overheating the engine. Put on a cheap FlowMaster at the same time that I really like.

The previous post did correctly note I have a 1990 XJ (Renix) so I am still wondering if any other XJ'ers out there with same motor have had success with this header and supplier? Thanks!!!

Thank-you! Definately seeking a bolt-in replacement header...

I've been running this header for a while now.. Not a lick of trouble from it. I would recommend you check that driverside engine mount while doing the swap. I found mine in about 3 peices, and I believe was the cause of the old header cracking as badly as it did.

X2! Had exactly the same problem. I wonder if the heat from the leaking manifold burned out the motor mount. I replaced with autozone cheapies and have had no problem since.
