So i replaced my d44 with an 8.25, looking to part out the d44 parts to fund the 8.25. the d44 had leaking axle seals... i could not get it to stay leak free with a disc conversion, if youre gonna use the housing, it goes 'AS-IS'.

included would be:
-4.56 gears, installed by robertk on the appropriate upsized open carrier about 3 years ago. great condition.
-aussie locker
-ruffstuff diff cover.

looking to get $450, willing to part out if the gear setup is spoken for first.
lets get someone some new gears!

gears would have to go with the housing (no means to pull it apart, and wouldnt want to mess up any bearings/whatever. i am not a gear guy) $120?

aussie locker: $120?
ruffstuff cover: $80
thanks guys, lemme know.

did you forget the spacer that is needed? the backing plate with the drum steup slightly spaces the axle/wheel bearing from the housing/axle tube. that space(i think its less then an 1/8th in) is needed. if you dont have it, you will over tighten the seals and you will leak diff fluid.

nope, this was my first of 3 identical d44's we put together, and this is the only one to leak... it'd go away for a while, then the next thing you know.... you smell your rear brakes cooking sulfer again. i realized i hadnt had good brakes for the last 2-3 years, and it had to go! if i had more time/money, i'd throw a set of stock drums on it to try those... thanks for your concern though.

UPDATE: looks like tone's homie kace had called dibs on the aussie, and the diff cover, pending pickup (this?) weekend.

hmmm i was really only wanting the gears, but i'll still think about it.
It's a good deal with the axle housing.. buy and pull the gears and sell or give away the housing.

the aussie is sold, thanks kace.

d44 housing, 4.56+ carrier. $100
d44 4.56 gearing $75 or $130 with the 4.56 carrier.
