But a locker is 10-30% less to buy/install.
Gears are 10-20% less.
There is no need for removing of all axle tube bracketry and installing/welding on correctly spring perches and shock mounts.
The drums are perfectly fine.
And the yoke is a direct fit with likely the same driveshaft. No need for special yoke adapters and a shorter shaft.
A f8.8 only "advantage" is a very minimal shaft increase (30 spline to 31 spline). And slightly larger Ring gear. Both of which are non issues on a D44, so really are Moot comparisons.
People say a F8.8 is much easier to find. Maybe a slight bit around southern cali. But at only a 100-200$ increase for a D44 that is a Direct bolt in. And a regear with a selectable locker cost you 200-400$ less, well its a wash in cost.
