Good luck. XJ's are fun and capable rigs. Lots of them around, and fairly inexpensive to modify. They can be lots of fun. Great for an inexpensive trail rig, and easy enough to throw away when they are spent.

Very true words... Welcome to NAXJA. We're a generally easy-going group of XJ/MJ fanatics who enjoy our Jeeps.

If it's been done to (or happened to) an XJ, it's probably been discussed on our tech-specific forums a time or two. Might take some digging to find it, but usually not.

<edit> LOL "Disposable XJ" is almost scrappin words to some of us... and dearie me, don't let Eagle here of an MJ being abused. I like having fun with mine. <edit>

Hey they need you over on the Hummer forums...Never seen so many nasty mouthed people...

They are some extremly defensive people over there.

What do you expect of people who spend $50000+ and burn nearly as much diesel as a Kenworth pulling 30 tons just to say "my ____ is bigger than yours"

Really? Surely you are just making that up? Or do you know first hand?

By _____ I of course mean... "off-road vehicle." C'mon guys whose got their mind in the gutter.

Gimmee a break. I am talking about your mileage figgures. I want to know how you know this, what the figgures are that you have. And what engine in the KW you are using for your figgures. Or are you just making it up? Quick... no google searches, just the stuff you based your post on. Thanks. :)

I read this statement somewhere, that the H2 is going to get around 10/gal so what...2 or 3 times that of the truck. Marginally better if you consider the ten-plus fold difference in weight. BTW Why doesn't fueleconomy.gov have ratings for H2? This was, one of those newsletters about how evil SUVs are :twak: Stated that you should expect 10 diesel miles to the gallon, perhaps for they were confused w/ the gas version that did get fewer than 10.

I never knew the H2 was a diesel....Or that any light duty vehicle could ever use as much fuel as a semi towin 30 tons...Hm, learn somethin new everyday I guess

:D

What wrong with an SUV that gets 10? If I baby my DD, run-around town vehicle, I get about that. On the highway though, that is where my compact really shines....13 (if I am gentle)...woo-hoo.

:D

I just dont see the point in buying an H2. Horrible gas mileage, too big for any real trails, poor ground clearance(with 33" tires!?!?!). Poor flex like every other IFS truck out there, and a high center of gravity. Plus a 6,000lb plus curb weight? My wagoneer doesn't weigh close to that, and it still gets as good gas mileage as an h2 but with a 30 year old engine and carbuerator. We are supposed to increase performance not decrease it! In general I dont see the attraction of the modern SUV, bigger heavier worse gas mileage and more prone to breakage. Sounds like the average american to me fatter slower eats more and taking up billions of dollars in health care.

Believe it or not, some people actually buy SUV's just for the extra room and cushy ride. Why an Escalade, H2, Denali? Cause you can fit five 15s in the deck and still have room for groceries..............:laugh3:

To each their own. Not a hard concept guys. Get off your high horses. You do not need to see or understand "why". Your opinion does not matter in the grand scheme of a vehicle purchasers decision. So what if they buy a vehicle you cannot afford. Big deal. Enjoy the fact that you enjoy what you have. I know I do. It looks foolish to knock others choices of a vehicle. Come on.

They MIGHT burn that much diesel if you could get a diesel in them....Of course if the offered a diesel they wouldn't be such an underpowered gas guzzeling pig either.

I think he meant that his 30 year old waggy w/ carbureated gasoline engine gets better mileage than the H2 w/ FI gas engine. I have this 77 Dodge Powerwagon, it gets at least 14 except towing or really using all 4 barrels. The point is, 25 years and were at square 1 in the fuel mileage department. Of course, its just a 318 so, smaller engine than the H2.
