World War Z

Well, been looking forward to this for a long time.

Finally listened to the audiobook version from audible.com.

Now the only question is 3D or regular.

Finally an appropriate opportunity to wear my new Zombie Outbreak Response Team T-shirt!

Regular or 3-D? Unfortunately, my response is: DVD.

Having said that, if I was planning to see it in theater, I'd go regular. Haven't seen a 3-d movie that was worth the premium for 3-D since "Avatar" (3-D was the only thing Avatar got right.)

As of now 3D is a stupid gimmick. I will not be in any way impressed with 3D films until you no longer need the glasses. If it's no-glasses (which they are working on) then I'll consider embracing the technology.

The glasses are problematic to those who wear glasses (I typically do not in a movie).

They are a one size fits none.

They never work well for children.

They are produced so cheap that you get optical distortion.

Need I go on about those stupid glasses?

I wear glasses and always manage to get them situated just fine. I have never personally had issues with them. Maybe your face is lopsided?

I agree with the Jerk. There really is not "3D" involved. Yes the movies look good, but they look good not 3D.

So Joe...how was the book?

I have an audible account and have thought many times about blowing a credit on this book but it's only six hours long. Thats pretty short for me. Is it worth it?

I am definitely going to see the movie. 3D or regular...don't really care.

I agree with this douche

It was good. Lot of A-list actors doing numerous characters. Got it free with the audible.com trial.

I want to read the full book, but I want to wait until after I see the film. Old habit of mine with book-to-film movies.

I am color blind in the green spectrum, so all of the 1950-1960 3-D films were a bust for me. I did see Resident Evil Afterlife in 3-D, and I was impressed, although I did think that some of the action shots were there JUST for the 3-D experience, and that made them a little predictable. I too wear glasses and it was a little annoying wearing the 3-D glasses over mine.

Well, I have tickets for Sunday at Noon, 2D.

There was a late night premiere on Thursday, but us old folks need our rest, and I always avoid the first day showing of movies--too noisy, too crowded.

Without spoilers, has anybody seen it? Opinion?

Well, the movie is GOOD, and stands on its own.

No, it doesn't have much in common with the Max Brook's book--other than the bare outline--but it is told in "real time" and not 10 years after the end of WWZ.

Any zombie movie fan should enjoy this film UNLESS you have to have constant scenes of people being devoured.

Glad I went, and there is talk of a possible sequel(s).

It was OK. It reminded me of Contaigon and I am Legend.

Interesting comparisons.

I think the rate of infection makes it more like 28 Days/Weeks Later, but they weren't zombies.

I don't really see much of a Contagion connection, or I Am Legend either--no zombies, and a cure is found in both of those movies. No cure for dead.

There wasn't a cure in I am Legend. At least in the book there wasnt

Looking at the previews, I was bummed out that they blockbuster-fied the book. The book was great... Fascinating with its detail and realism (in a zombie book)

In the movie Will Smith gives the lady a vial, she takes it to the sanctuary and turns it over.

The problem would be presenting the massive details from the book in a 2-hour movie.

Maybe a television series would work, but not a 2-hr movie.
