8.8 installed, Also did SYE and alot of fixing through out.

CB, getting the little stuff figured out, also added a solar batt. maintainer/charger. Next is to build a protype rear "shelf" first out of wood then metal once I figure it out more.

Gonna build anything to seperate the cargo area from passenger area? In case that spare comes loose and decides to bounce around. And yes, trust me, spares do come loose and bounce around. Like down a giant hill in lefthand almost killing madmike and dutch LMFAO

I am gonna strap it on / down. Part of the reason I am making it, last run the tire took out the rear window. Didn't break it but I'm sure not going to let it break.

id try to find a way to bolt it down if possible. I had wo straps break at same time when mine took off.

Ugh. Why build it with the tire on top???? Make the shelf lower so it's just a bit taller than the tire is when it's laying on the cargo floor. This will keep things out of your rear view mirror until you're actually having to load up for a trip/carry all that stuff you plan to pack.

The thing you built has to weigh MORE than the tire as it is. No need for those center legs..... looks like you could park the XJ ON that rack...... way over built brutha.

yea over built, it was the first try...and the 35 wont fit flat and close the door. I am not taking out the rear seat (whole reason I have a 4d is to take the kids). When I go "ou" I have two tool boxes from my truck that need to come along, and the way I am gathering other stuff it might be a third one or a milk create or something else, like I said a prototype. I went looking for a thread like that but couldn't find it. Thanks! At some point I will either re-build out of wood or make one of metal once I get an idea. The rear view mirror aint no big deal, dont have one on my truck and I dont really miss it. I also wanted the middle leg just to be sure, this thing is all wood screews and removable to I can change and try diffrent ideas....This is the fun part of building and not buying.

why isn't the truss welded to the center section? You can see daylight between the truss and pumpkin

7 is a starting point. The truss is, just hard to tell in that picture.
