Will these chevy shackles work?

In advance: i had to post this as its own thread due to some extra questions...

i read in another post that 88-98 chevy 2" drop shackles turned upside down would work the same as a lift shackle. my question is would these chevy shackles work? i mean for $29 bucks, that cant be beat, plus they would net about a 1 1/2" - 2" lift (i think). any info or insight?

well I didn't see the other thread but if you turn the upside down the bushing end will be at the leaf and the non-bushing at the frame. Willn't work. You need the bushing where the bushing goes and so forth. ORGS has a great shackle for under 100 that is dog legged and provides about 1" of lift. The real asset about it is the flex it provides. Now for a lifted shackle you can get one from Rubicon Express, Teraflex, Skyjacker that will be about 1.5" of lift. On my old setup I ran the TeraFlex Shackle and after about a year the leaf spring seemed to be flat. So just and idea. Juice

Yes, Chevy drop shackles will work. They are inverted on the chevy not on the jeep. They should provide about 1" of lift I believe (you need to know the total length from eye to eye to know the amount of lift you should be able to expect, and I am not sure on this application).

Keep in mind that longer shackles always alow more flex so the springs will get more abuse and will weaken quicker than with the shorter shackle.

they'll give you a solid 2" lift plus some.

(they're almost 5" longer than stock XJ shackles)

ok glad to hear that it will work. my other questions is when the leaf springs sag (say after a year), can i just get an aal to just raise it back up a little?

i just need--heh heh i mean want a few more inches o' lift on my now sagging 3", and want to do it fairly cheaply. because i now have to buy longer brakelines, relocate my trac bar, drop my t-case, and maybe get lower control arms and quick disco's... just like others...i cant stop lifting it at 3"...

I did this this last weekend, they're better than blocks and helps reduce springwrap.

Yes you can add aal to help support the sagging lift. But use a long aal not a short one. Also you would be better adding the aal now instead of the longer shackle so that you provide the added support to the already sagging springs, instead of adding the shackle to helping them sag quickly.

the reason that i want to add shackles is because the short aal's that are on now sagged a little bit already (3" lift is now around 2" in the rear). if i put in shackles now, then later add another full leaf if the packs sag more...would this be logical?
