The first time I pulled the oil pan off my XJ I hit the nail on my right little finger at its base on the first bolt I removed. The rest of the R&R of the pan was done while the slowly expanding hematoma (blood clot) separated my nail from the underlying tissue. Monday I went to see the doc and he removed the nail completely. When the nail was lifted up blood must have shot 3 feet out from my finger. The following Friday I flew up to MI to help Scott Mac do his lift. Made it real fun to get the mechanics gloves on and off .

Kejtar, Suck it up man! What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger . It won't hurt this bad during the whole time the nail grows back.

Next time pull it out yourself...I suggest a few shots of your favorite "pain killer" and some needle nose pliers. I used to get severely ingrown toenails on both of my big toes. I got so sick of the doctor sticking needles in my toes, I started pulling the nails out myself. Finally I had them removed permanently, best thing I ever did. Moral of the story: nut up and be a man, it is just a freaking fingernail.
