Why not have a creditablity bar by users name

simply only take advice from the "big 3" more importantly, xj ranger. only listen to him.

The ratings thing kinda seemed screwed up. People just left comments/ratings on mine if they didn't agree with me or if I pissed them off for some reason. For example, one person left some nasty comment and negative rating about how I was stupid because I told someone their welded D35 would break. WTF?

Anyway, in theory it's a good system, in practice it doesn't work as well.

long before the rock rash "Forum User Credibility" rating feature, I learned to rely on my built-in BS detection feature.....which uses logic, reason, common sense and humor to process the info provided and determine the value of any post.......never paid much attention to the reds or greens, seemed to be a toy for the lifeless and often misdirected the common senseless. :kissyou:

I wish I could give negative rep to you right now.
That was a good barometer of who was the best people to drink with in a bar.
Green meant good drinker.
Red meant you were a buzzkiller.

Join NAXJA and you can ask about it in the members forum.

...BOB

Ditto. Seems to me you should have to pay to play.

Maybe this has been done before or is somewhere, but I'm still fairly new to this forum and don't know how to use all the features...with that said.

Why doesn't NAXJA use a scale, that is visable say next to the persons avatar(sp), so we would know if the info they post is legit or probalbly legit. Because I see a lot of bad info posted, and while I can usally sort it out I do sometimes have trouble deciding who or what is the better infomation.

I guess this rating would be subjective though.
Can I be the one who gets to decide the ratings? :firedevil

Been there, done that. It turned into just another way for some people to gang up on other people, and did not represent objective ratings.

At risk of offending, by the way, I think the least you could do before suggesting that we change our firums is join the organization so something like this can be discussed on the members forum, where it belongs. I guess I come from a much older generation, but when I'm a guest in someone's house I don't tell them how they should rearrange their furniture.

X2

BTW - My favorite comment was "S##k him dry!"

I always enjoyed the rep or rock rash or whatever it was called at the time. Ididn't use it to judge who was a smart guy or what, it was just fun getting and receiving comments. People would uh, really let you know how they felt. :D

Eagle, I'm not offended at all. I really don't get offended as long as everyone acts like an mature adult. I do plan to join soon, but had lost interest in the Jeep project about a year ago. Alot of that has to do with the low amount of members in central Alabama. I recently said screw it, I'm going to build the Jeep I want anyway. I didn't mean to offend anyone I was just trying to be helpful. I think that is one of the fundamental reasons for the forum.

For those who weren't around for the rep/rock rash system here is a link for you. Everyone took it way too serious. One guy even created fake user names to build up points just to slam others who didn't like him. I went back and forth from green to red quite a few times this night. It was fun while it lasted, but it was way too much of a distraction while it was in place.

Actually, what I liked most about the rock rash was being able to give out good rep on people's birthdays.
Those who got the giftrepping know who they are.:D
