Why I hate HOAs

Uncut grass and garbage is not only a fire issue, it's also a health issue, it provides safehavens for rodents and the like. See if a county health dept wont issue a voilation. A cop may not bother but some power trip health inspector might.

Maybe you should try a different venue all together...like away from that stupid state you live in.

HOA's aren't a state issue as much as an urban area issue, with my line of work I'll always need to be in an urban area.

Besides, California isn't quite so bad as it seems from the outside, and all the sane people leaving is *not* going to fix the state. Best off fixing this state for everybody anyway (that way the 'tards in other states can't point to us as a success story).

It just depends on the rules of your HOA. Ours is great and would not want it changed. You can have a RV in approved parking on your side yard. You can use your garage, park in your driveway, and they are all 1Mil plus homes. The negatives are: You can't park on your lawn, You can't paint your house hot pink, you can't run a Auto shop out of you garage, and you need HOA approval for construction.

dude, I am going postal right now. people suck. whats more american than ford?
do what the "inner city" folks do around here: change the brand logos and plates!

i have towed Chevy Suburbans with Cadillac Branding installed on the fenders, grill, back doors ect., ect.. a quick look and they do look like escalaldes.

it may be good for a laugh...but snobbery is no laughing matter.

good luck

Escalades are built off Tahoe and Suburban chassis now...since this current generation and the last

A friend of mine had a 1970 Road Runner tricked out as a show car/dragster. He moved into a rental home in north Phoenix a couple years ago. Had his car out in the driveway washing it one afternoon. 'Had it up on jack stands so he could clean the underside. Stopped to get something cold.
This jacka** walks into his garage, and tells him he can't work on his car in the driveway.
Nate, "I'm washing it."
J. A. " It's on jackstands!"
Nate, "I was cleaning the rubber off of the floorboards."
J. A. " There's no hood on it!"
Nate, "It doesn't have a hood."
After that, the argument really started. Two days later, he gets a HOA violation in the mail.
Funny thing: He owns his own company, and has access to some pretty pricey legal help. He forwarded the violation to his legal dept. They sent a small book to the HOA as a response. The violation was dropped. We're pretty sure they never even read the response, just saw a real attorney was involved and scampered back into their hole. Just like bullies, standing up to them will usually cause the problem to go away.

Me and my Gf have been renting my house for a few years now. When we first moved in the HOA hated us because we were one of the few renters.

The yard was a total wreck when we moved in because the house sat empty for a few months not our fault. The day we move in we get flaged for weeds and over grown grass and all that. Im ok with that, they want to keep the area nice and stuff and I full intended to clean things up.

I get the yard under control fighting the weeds and all that and its looking nice. Well they just keep flagging for stupid stupid stuff. Our trash can was left out past 5pm or something, mean while all our neighbors leave theirs out for days after pickup.

Then a few years pass and now the whole place is a mess. Noone keeps their yards nice or anything else. My yard is one of the best looking and Im a lowly renter ha.

Ill never own a house in an HOA neighborhood. I just passed the notices off to the rental company who then ignored them.

Wow. It must really SUCK to have to deal with HOA "reps" on a regular basis. Anybody around where I live that wants to see me needs a 4wheel drive to just make it TO the driveway. :moon: :D. AH, country livin'!

yeah got into it with the president of my uncle's HOA. He was standing on my uncles property telling me to leave. i told him he was a dick and he can kiss my ass. I was fishing on the lake. Shoot ME!

We just moved from an HOA controlled neighborhood. What a PITA it was to live there....

The area we live in DOES NOT thankfully have an HOA, but I do have one picky neighbor. Oh well, I can handle one pickly neighbor more easily than I can handle a whole HOA....

I guess the in-laws rental (where we moved into) was the laughing stock of the neighborhood. The second day we were in I changed all that. Lawn and weeds are now in control.......(I love propane weed burners)

See what happens when a neighborhood is opened to renters. ;)

More like when the renters are harassed then decide not to care, I know I felt that way. Lucky for them, I want my yard to look nice so I take care of it lol.

Some renters used to live next to me and we had nice yards, they were forced to move. The new people own the house and their yard is a wreck.

I deal with an HOA all the time, Its not so bad, the builder really messed up the community and is the cause for most of the headaches. The streets are narrow so no ones allowed to park on the street/in front of their house/on their lawn. Its more of a fire safety thing cuz if people parked on the streets that the trucks wouldn't be able to get through *yeah that narrow*

The builder also didn't allow for enough parking, the home owners compound the problem by not parking in their garages.

The HOA does use the fee's to pay for aproperty manager who deals with a lot of the piddly stuff like pool maintaince/life gaurd, landscaping crew *yup everyone gets their lawns cut by the hoa*, trash collection, snow removal and a 24/7 Security Gaurd on site.

Over all its not to bad, but the people who run the HOA are your typical power tripping idiots. If you break the rules, fines aplenty, however if they break the rules they just sweep it under the carpet.

*we do have a guy here who owns a white lifted XJ, its currently parked in one of the lots, no idea who owns it or its stats though*
