who makes the best rocker panel guards?

rosco

I need these before I do any seriouse wheeling. It seems like most of the ones out there would just flex up and damage the rocker panel anyways. Are there any out there that will hold up to the weight of the xj's and not damage the rockers?

Does anyone have any reviews or better pics of the C-rok sliders?

a while ago I heard they were great, but their website desn't show much about them

Most bolt on in the same fashion. a few bolts to the frame rail, usually type f bolts, and a few bolts through the pinch weld. The pinch weld takes most of the abuse.
I have built 2 sets using 2x4x3/16 box and tabs to mate to the pinch weld. the 2x4 works well, you can get in as close to the pinch weld as you can and still put a nut on a 5/16ths bolt. or you can space the box out far enough to make a real step to get in the jeep.
Any type will carry the load of the jeep with a high lift, those that grab the bottom of the frame rail are a little better than ones that have just a plate that is bolted flat against the frame rail.
And the more mounting points the better. ie say 3 runners to the frame vs 2.
my $.02.

3x5 tubing, a grinder, and a welder. Just replace em.

Here are AJ's rails in action on my buddys cherokee. We were at Katemcy Rocks in Mason, Texas.......................

These rails are incredible. He literally put them through hell and tried his best to break them. He broke his front bumper trying (not Aj's stuff)

Their double tube rocker guards are 1.5" DOM with .140 wall. Powder coated. Modular so you can weld them on or bolt them or a combination of the two. They will hold the weight of the entire vehicle and are gussetted. I paid $225 shipped for mine.

NOT my truck, but you get the idea:

Note: It took me three days to get mine from the date I ordered them.

I really like the extra protection these offer. They only are 3/4" below the pinch rail and are made from 3/16" and 1/4" steel.

I might be biased thou since I made them myself...

check out http://www.jcroffroad.com/ and http://www.ajsoffroadarmor.com/ , doesnt hurt they are supporters, they both offer 3 (or more i think trim level/option levels) comparable to each other prices, and both will spank the big names on service and price and warranty (you break they fix it or replace it free warranties at both shops, no fine print)

Cant beat 'em. Cant say enough good about either. Never heard anyone say a bad thing about either shop.

Well, I think the AJ's rails on my heep will just hafta go through the Rev spotting approval process then. I'm more worried about the rocks and trees than my rails.

if you have a long arm system JCR, stock system get some AJ's. JCR took about 5 weeks to get to me. AJ's dilivered my friends in about two weeks or less.

STeve.

We got rocked during tax season. We are back to shipping them out within 15 business days at the most. Bumpers are still a little behind though...

We really need a fourth full time employee, but we are out of room and we are kind of holding out to see if sales continue through the rest of the year.

Every one of us at JCR would love to have orders out the door in a week, but at this point it would require a substantial price increase to lower demand a little and help pay for another employee... and we really don't want to do that.
