Where were the NAXJA people?

Just another minion!
Just got back from Los Coyotes. Had a great time wheelin with some great people. Eleven rigs in all (10 were XJs) with one YJ.They all claimed membership in the SoCal XJ group. Although I have 'met' some of them here before, none of them would fess up to being members (okay, so even I'm not a member but....)With all the responces from the San Diego off roader thread I figured to see a few from here.....oh well...we had a great time anyway.
And on a side note..all of you with mostly stock XJs that think you probably can't do well off-road until you 'fix it up a bit' should have seen this young lady (I forget her name) with her rig doing some amazing stuff. Just mildly larger tires (street tires too) and much of the body armour (she took advice from some long time XJ people and started with the protection first) She flat out drove her rig thru some nasty stuff!!
I am still in awe of what these little grocery getters can do!!
Anyway...I will be heading out agian sometime in mid September and will post here the time and date! You all give it a go and have some fun with us!!

Thats it!! I fell in love with her! There was one section that we pulled up to (she was in front of me) where I figured we both would take the bipass route.....but NOOOOO! She drops right down into the rocks and with only mild spotting drove right thru!I'm thinking 'damn...now I gotta' She has been to LCIR several times before and I was happy to just fall in behind and watch.
Good people and good times!

oops I realized it;s a typo... it should say Marisha LOL... ok.. I got a good excuse though... I went to one hell of a wedding last night...
I haven't wheeld with her yet, but I did hear stories.... :) I think that mentioning that she's from Alaska will explain a lot :) you really gotta be out there to live there LOL

Kejtar

She brought her mom out from Alaska and her mom just sat there and smiled the whole time! Mom leaves back for Alaska tomarrow...with some stories to tell about what her crazy daughter is doing in Cali!!

What was the weather like..... did that storm hit up there early Sun. A.M. ? How about Borrego?
Curt (aka Xtreme XJ)

Weather was great....no storm up there....Borrego got some, but not much. We got hit hard last week......flash floods etc. My wife was in Indio during our storm and hadto wait until 9:30pm until the road was clear enough for her to get thru. Its still a mess here and they are exspecting more rain this afternoon......

DAMN! I WANTED TO GO!!!!!!!!! Alwell, next time. My XJ just wasent ready (started smeeling like something was burning when I was driving). Labor day Monday the "SoCal" www.Rockcrawler.com group are going to Asuza, I will be there with them playing in the mud, if anybody else wants to go check out the boards on Rockcrawler in the trail rides and events section for more information. Its nothing really "set up" type of run, its just a be there and have fun wheel'n with your buddies type of thing.

damn..... I need/want to get out... but I need to get things done before Moab !!!! That's almost around the corner and there are fewer and fewer weekends ahead of me..

Have you been to Azusa lately? I was there 3 weeks ago and it SUCKED. The water was up past the overpass bridge! I ended up leaving and getting a permit to run the rubicon shortcut trail (road). You may want to call up there to see what the water level is.........

what is the rubicon short cut trail(road)? who did you get a permit from and why?

Its the only way to get from highway 39 to highway 2. Its basically the fire road created for the powerlines. Highway 39 and 2 were supposed to connect, but an earthquake caused a landslide back in the 30's or 40's when they were building it and they never finished the road.
There are a few campsites up on the road. It takes about 2 hours or so to get to the gate at highway 2. You need to get a permit at the ranger station on highway 39 in order to get the code to unlock the gates. Its free. The first gate is behind the fire station up the road from Azusa OHV area.

Its a cool drive with good views in places. We went on a gorgeous day. I'd recommend it for a sunday drive.

The term for Marisha (Mareesha) would be, "NO FEAR".
Mike R. and I have wheeled with Marisha since April and she had developed into quite a capable off roader with her "just about" stock 2000 XJ. The few mods that she has are an ORGS crossmember/t-case skid plate, ORGS mini-skids, Summit Rockrails and a C4x4F tow hook kit. Whether it is being from Alaska or talent; I have to say that she learns quickly. Personally I believe that it is mostly talent and with a little of being from Alaska.
By the way..... I am the guy with the 98 Gunmetal XJ that was leading the 2nd group down Dangerous Road.

I had a good time just riding along with Charles that day. There are a few of us that went who are members. Yes Marisha is a very good driver.

Hope to wheel with you again soon.

Hey! You guys are talking about me!! Had a good day with you guys that weekend... hope to go wheelin some more! Fun stuff!!
