Does anybody know where I can get a copy of the book P5007161, Mopar Jeep Engines 3rd Edition Performance Modifications?

I have searched all the popular places online and came up empty. I have read some bits about a PDF version available, but that has not panned out either. Any ideas where I can find one?

Waste of money. Bunch of generic information and a few blurbs specifically on the 4.0L. Your better off spending your money on other performance books. Considering the last one I saw was on ebay and it went for $120.

What!! Section on the 4.0 is over 150 pages of information. All specs and tolerances for most all internal parts.

I,ll let mine go for $120 if you want it that bad.

Specs and tolerances... You can find them in many other sources. Its 150 pages of mostly generic info and info that is covered in the FSM. Go to a machine shop and see if they have any used catalogs they are discarding. Ones from Clevite, Speed Pro, etc list the clearances. You are better off getting a performance engine building book if you want to learn something.

Come on Chris, it's a good read and there is worthy info in it, so just cause you don't like it. . .

I just read through it again. Its says that the max over bored is 0nly .030", the rear main seal is a rope type, the cylinder bores might have to be notched to installing a 4.2L crank. False. It gives part numbers for hardened washers, which doesn't apply to the 4.0L. Blah blah blah. Aside from the specs and assembly procedures (which can be found in the FSM and is infinitely more valuable than this) the majority of the information is generic and pertains to any engine. You can get a book on V8 performance and you would be ahead of this book. Basically it is a glorified engine related FSM with Mopar part numbers advertised through out. Most of which can no longer be obtained. The only reason I have this book is because it was free.

It might be a good read for the beginner that only intends to purchase this book. However the FSM and any other performance books will provide more info at a lesser cost.

If you are a beginner I would recommend the FSM to begin with for basic service. If you are interested in more engine work get "Engine Builder's Handbook" by Tom Monroe. It covers a lot of basic engine machining, cleaning, measuring, assembly and more advanced topics. After the I would recommend "Engine Blueprinting" by Rick Voegelin. More in depth with a lot of special topics covered. If you like math I would recommend "Auto Math Handbook" by John Lawlor. Besides engine it gives a lot of information on chassis, braking, tires, fuel, etc. After those books anything by David Vizard or Smokey Yunick is a good read, among other authors. This is besides forums. I lurk on speedtalk.com, which covers mostly racing info but some stuff still applies to out type of driving.
