Where can i buy metal??? IL

I live near Aurora IL and i was wondering where everyone gets there tube, metal stock etc... where i can go and pick up some metal..

Im looking for a possible 2"x7"x6' with .125 wall tubing...
or some 1/8 steel plate
or some 1 1/2" .125 wall tubing...

WHERE U DO U GET IT AROUND HERE!!!

hey bud- look up AAA steel in nearby Schererville IN they will sell you whatever you want cut to size, cash and carry. no business account needed. edit: AAA's number is 219-865-8500

you can also try steel cities steel but they are slower and typically want a tax ID number.

hey, I haven't been on here in a while, but Im over in Hinckley, Ive always got my steel from a scrap recycling place up in DeKalb called DIMCO (DeKalb Iron and Metal Company) Its off rt. 38, just the the east or rt 23 on a side street, 11th I think.

Every saturday till 11am, you can pick through the yard and get scrap real cheap, and they also have a huge selection of new steel, any size you can imagine, prices have been fair.

definetly closer for you than villa park and schereville.

where are you taking your metal shop class at?

FYI everyone.... I have found a place in Kaneville il.... Needhams metal works i think (just search for needhams kaneville il) and my 6x2x3/16" is about 10 bucks a ft... and the 3x2x3/16" steel is about 5 bucks a ft... for my rear bumper and rock sliders im planning on building..... ooo and the 1/4" plate 1'x1' is $7.....

just thought i would give everyone a heads up.... jeepmike887 lives closer than i do.......

yea, I drive by needhams everyday, they have a decent selection, but their a bit pricy compared to DIMCO, good group of guys their, I had them do the welding on the cast Iron knuckle on my dana 44.

I don't know why but I completely forgot to tell you about that place.

There is a place called T & L Manufactering on Dearborn St. in Aurora. You should be able to buy from them, and I have even had them cut and bend some stuff for me...
