When all the XJ's run out.. with you buy an FJ Cruiser?

Your not wheeling hard enough then because there's no way ifs can do what most of us do with our dana 30's. My buddy with a mid 90's toyo taco tried following me through a deep ditch at prairie city next to the rock garden, took the same line, both of us on 33's and he bent an a-arm and tie rod, i made it out then pulled him out. I don't understand a lot of Toyota owners, thinking their truck is god’s gift to the earth. My friend swaress by them yet he's blown 3 motors and finally put a ford v8 aluminum block in it. Granted anything built properly can wheel but the only thing i like about them is the rear axles, boxed frames and the supercharged 3.4’s.
You don't have to break stuff to wheel hard. Ask the XJ that went on Ultimate Adventure in an XJ with an LS1, 37s and a D30. No breakage over a week of tough trails. I wheeled a Geo IFS and an Isuzu IFS, much better than Toyota IFS...;) The Tracker required momentum and throttle, and I took it places guys on lifted trucks with 31s and 33s were afraid to go.

Like I said, I prefer my SFA in the XJ, but you can drive an IFS a lot of places you wouldn't expect.

The ones that are lifted with nice wheels and tires have grown on me..

I agree with you as far as the FJ goes but what is wrong with Toyota? They are probably the best made cars on the road, they are built in America by non-union workers and when you buy one you aren't spending the first several thousand dollars to pay for some lazy, unionized employees health care and retirement. Seems like a good deal to me. The big three auto makes are dead to me until they can pull their heads out of their collective asses.

I don't intend on arguing. But...

I cant stand toyotas. Don't get me wrong, I like older land cruisers, and most of the older toyotas you see on the trails but...

The cars are ugly, the trucks are boring to me, and the I hate the crappy looks I get from priuses everywhere.

And the fact that I live in humboldt county extends this. EVERYONE drives toyota trucks! I get dirty looks from trucks out at the ohv area all the time. I get strange looks from trucks all the time. Theres only 3 other xj's that are wheeled in the eureka area. (One of our own naxja guys just sold his and bought a toyota truck.)
I'm not bashing quality, or longevity, Im simply entitled to an opinion about the company, and I don't like them.

I am a huge fan of subarus and some hondas (my best friend has a mint 92 eg civic). So it's not a national issue to me, just a preference. I will NEVER own a toyota.

I was in Denver a little over a year ago for a 2 week training at work. Our rental car was a Prius. I threw up in my mouth a little when the guy at the rental counter told me. THEY BRING THE SUCK. Driving that thing around Denver for 2 weeks in the bitter cold, minus 20 temps they were having just before Christmas last year was equivalent to soaking my nutsack in turpentine, lighting it on fire, and having someone stomp the fire out over and over everyday. Oh the joy. That is one car I give Toyota a major FAIL on.

The CJ had a frame and now has aluminum or fiberglass replacement tubs to fix all the rusty ones. The XJ tends to start cracking and falling apart after too many yrs of hard wheeling, and when the body goes bad, you're screwed.

That's what cages are for.

I own a Subaru too. And I feel exactly the same way about Honda's as you do Toyotas. 90% of them are ugly. They have horrible interiors. And I really can't stand the whole ricer thing they kind of started.

Right there with ya dude. The FJ, the new Camry, the Echo and the Prius are really really stupid cars.

Yeah, you're right. I don't like 90% of all hondas. The ridgeline, crv, all gross.

But, I've been in some fast hondas, and I really can respect some of the sleeper ones. I do have a soft spot for the 4 door civic. (the newest one)

And my buddy jason has a 03 wrx wagon.... :yelclap:. I love speed. lol

But no matter what, My favorite import has to be VW. Give me a tdi jetta wagon, anyday.

I respect Subarus a lot, and SAABs - as I heard it put once by a SAAB owner, if you don't get a lemon with a completely screwed up electrical system they'll last forever. He had 480k on his and all he'd done was regular maintenance, a clutch, and brakes.

I already have one, My dad uses it, it is a good daily driver & OK for the type of wheeling (Mostly beach, Some heavy snow when we go upstate).

Now for the bad news!
I have a buddy that works for Toyota & he says that Toyota has considered stopping production of the FJ due to lack of sales.
For now they will continue to build it, But who know's about the future?

This is true.

My dad gets company company cars all the time.

He had 2 saab 9-3's, within 3 years, and they were both rockets. But, one had 3 computers replaced, cause it was a major lemon. A few 1,000 dollar repairs later, (all under warranty) and it was fixed. But it was a hell of a car, and my mom liked driving it. Which is a mile stone.

Back on topic- fj is bad. :compwork:

hehe, seeing that right now that's seems to be among the few vehicles they can sell that don't try to kill people, they don't have much choice bit not to kill it off:roflmao:
