When all the XJ's run out.. with you buy an FJ Cruiser?

I'd get a diesel JK!

I could go with a WJ, or even a WK in a pinch. Think of the AEV WK.

Still sort of plastic-feeling. But its better than an FJ.

The fj is the most god awful vehicle... it is ifs, plastic, ugly, and toyota.

I agree with you as far as the FJ goes but what is wrong with Toyota? They are probably the best made cars on the road, they are built in America by non-union workers and when you buy one you aren't spending the first several thousand dollars to pay for some lazy, unionized employees health care and retirement. Seems like a good deal to me. The big three auto makes are dead to me until they can pull their heads out of their collective asses.

Uh Toyota just had a very large recall there Ryan, seems like they switched sides and joined the Big Three's Team. :shhh:

Toyota's "Quality" is so legendary that they just suspended sales and production of many of their popular models because of the "sudden acceleration" issues. Their QC and engineering people just can't seem to solve the issue.

I was a Toyota tech in the early 80's and I know all about their "legendary quality". It was a joke then and its a joke now. ANY thing mechanical can have issues no matter who it is made by.

No one said Toyota was perfect. But compare the number of recalls, and the seriousness of them, with the big 3 over the last 20 years and lets talk quality again. I have personally owned 3 of them, and they are made better, and have less mechanical failures when compared against domestics. You may hate them, but facts are facts.

*cough*

Bendix ABS - "lifetime warranty". Yours, or the unit's, depending on the circumstances under which it fails...

The CPS that fails so often on XJs, some of us carry spares.

The wrong front brake rotors that were put on some 96 XJs, resulting in sudden loss of braking ability - recall.

No vehicle is flawless, all of them have safety problems occasionally.

When my XJ "runs out" it will end up being like most the Xj's that get built to the point there not Xj's anymore. Other then that there are alot of decently priced chassis out there.

Pbbbbbftt If I get rid of my XJ it'd be for a 1st gen Tracker, 4Runner, 90's Land Cruiser, or something else that I have forgotten about. The FJ is ugly, expensive, and ugly. I don't care if it's IFS, I wheeled two IFS vehicles before the XJ and both went where I wanted them to, a locker would've been helpful though.
EDIT: Boatwrench reminded me of the TJ Unlimited. I'd do that. Or a TJ and do the AEV Brute conversion...

Your not wheeling hard enough then because there's no way ifs can do what most of us do with our dana 30's. My buddy with a mid 90's toyo taco tried following me through a deep ditch at prairie city next to the rock garden, took the same line, both of us on 33's and he bent an a-arm and tie rod, i made it out then pulled him out. I don't understand a lot of Toyota owners, thinking their truck is god’s gift to the earth. My friend swaress by them yet he's blown 3 motors and finally put a ford v8 aluminum block in it. Granted anything built properly can wheel but the only thing i like about them is the rear axles, boxed frames and the supercharged 3.4’s.

Nope.

I'll get a ZJ, WJ, TJ, YJ, SJ, CJ, or an old Land Cruiser or Toyota pickup first.

:roflmao: sorry but that's funny.

Ive wheeled with them before, and while I respect them, & they got yuppies, girls and robots into wheeling, I would never want one. I would much rather have a toyota truck or 4runner etc. The suck balls as far as visibility, without a locker you are screwed because you will always have a tire off the ground & they are huge as hell. My xj on 33's is barley as tall as a stock FJ. Check this scary crap out

H1's have IFS and IRS..

Yes they do and H1's wheel like dog shit. Yes I have personal experience...

The funny part was
A: this dude telling Darky he doesnt wheel hard.

B: In addition to that he implies he wheels hard with his D30

noebody with a stock toyo ifs going everywhere they want is wheeling hard enough. I've seen too many fail to believe otherwise.

I've taken two dana 30 equiped cars, one early ford bronco 30 and one xj 30, both on 35's through that exact spot on the rubicon from your avatar pic. Its a relatively hard yet fun spot. I guess its more of a pucker factor spot than anything. I'm not saying the d30 is the best, i'm just saying their far more capable than any ifs is. Excluding fords ttb (which is in its own element. And don't come at me with that hmv crap, thats 50+ g's over the chump change we pay for our cars.

I agree they're pos's but so are d30's. :D

As for pucker spots I was never a fan of the one over lil sluice.
