Wheeling on the 8th...

So who is down to go next Sunday? It will be June 8th and I'm pretty sure the trail will be Eagle Rock down by Colorado Springs. Its rated as being a difficult trail that is narrow, steep, and rocky. It can be muddy and slippery in places, especially this early in the season. Its is most likely not suitable for stock vehicles. I haven't run this trail in a few years, but when we did my buddies 2004 Rubicon had little problems with it. He was only running 33's at the time so its not like you'll need a super built vehicle for it. Maybe someone from the Colorado Springs area can update us with current info. There is a fairly easy trail that is connected to it so if anybody wanted to run that trail they could. The easy trail is Mt. Baldy. If you want any further info on the trail it is number 68 in the `"Guide To Colorado Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails.

We can work out the details on when/where to meet, but I figure the earlier the better as that gives us more time to run the trail and allow us to deal with any breakdowns in the day light.

I figure a good meet point for those of us north of Castle Rock would be the Shell station off of Wolfensberger Rd (exit 182). Its pretty easy to find and they have a large dirt lot right next to them we could park in. After that we could head down to the Springs and rally at the 7-11 gas station next to Denny's on Lake Ave. Its right off of Exit 138 (the Circle St. Exit) in Colorado Springs. There we could join up with anybody from the Springs are or south and top off our fuel tanks along with pick up any last minute snacks/drinks we'll need.

To get to the trail from there we just continue West along Lake Ave towards the Broadmoor Hotel. Then bear right around the backside of the hotel to El Pomar Rd. Bear left on Penrose Blvd. Turn right on Old Stage Road and merge with Gold Camp Road after 7miles. Coninue West on Gold Camp Rd 8.1 miles to road 370C on right. This is the start of trail.

This is a picture of me coming off the trail head onto gold camp. The water crossing is the beginning of Eagle Rock.

If it were the 9th I could make it. The 7th and 8th is my Drill Weekend.

What unit are you in? Army or Air Guard? I'm in the 149th BSB.

Hey Josh, when you installing the locker? Let me know and I'll swing by and help you out. I'll drag the mrs along too.

Naval Security Force Okinawa. Our reserve unit is out of Bukley.

Oh, you're one of those squids I used to see at Buckley when I was in 2-135 AVN. So how exactly do you protect Okinawa from Buckley? :)

SQUID.... .....:roflmao: You are funny!! We are the reserve portion. The active is there 24/7. We just like to come and visit once in a while:wave: . I was active duty for almost 10 years. Got out and hired on with the Fed's and came back part time 5 years later.

Yeah, I've been in the guard for 6 years. Getting ready to start year 7. I've spent a good 4 years on that on activated duty or in iraq though, so much for 1 weekend a month.

Went over Madano yesterday..............FUN.....for an easy trail.

I would join you, but I'm broke. Gas is the Cookie Monster of cash.
