The chrome cap on one my lug nuts has fallen off. I can still get the nut off but I can see it is rounding. Where can I buy replacements? On the 'net?

Anyone have a particular brand that worked well?

Thanks!

I got mine from NAPA make sure you get the ones without the chrome caps. That way you dont have to worry about them coming off in the future.

Discount tire will also sell singles

Most auto stores or Quadratec if there is some more goodies you want from them.

Don't bother buying new ones from the dealer or getting the OEM-style capped type - you'll only find yourself at this juncture again.

Just get a full set of McGuard or similar solid-metal nuts. You'll have to pick up a new lug wrench (I got a "gorilla power wrench"), as the factory wrench may not fit.

Of course, the factory wrench doesn't exactly fit the OEM lug nuts well once the little cap comes off - I had a pretty badly galled one when I made the change, and literally stripped the wrench trying to get it off. Wound up replacing the lugs at that point (at 208K, why not?), and all is well.

Ditto - I think I have McGard ones, I replpaced them all at once - the OEM ones are crap

An 18 mm socket is what you need for the cap-less lug nuts. I carry 19mm and 18mm deep well sockets, a 3" extension and a 24" breaker bar. I actually like the ss caps. They don't rust like some $1 aftermarket lug nuts. But, I know I am in the minority on that.

It's a really old thread, but I recently found a good source for lug nuts: Discount Tire. They had really nice chromed steel nuts for about 1.50 each. They had them right behind the counter.

I have about 18 origional lugnuts in a ziplock (the ones with the stupid caps)

I replaced all 20 lugnuts with one-piece lugs from the costco tire center. They might be chrome? Who knows, I don't care....they are one piece.
