If your u-joints are rusty it can be hard to find the ends of the clips, and it takes a while to get them out. Usually the clips are put in a little asymmetrically, so one end will be easier to reach with a tool than the other, so check both ends to find the easier one. Be patient. A big vise helps a lot.
