so I finally got the D44 in last night....it alll went well until i go to put the wheels back on and theres only about 3 turns of thread engagement on the lug nuts.

So i need to get longer wheel studs in the rear....i just had this axle built with a ZJ disc conversion, so is there a way to replace these w/o taking the shafts out. ive never done that before.

Thanks

I've never done this on my D44 rear but i did do it on my D35 rear.

If you rotate the axle just right there will be a spot with enough clearance to punch the old stud out and pull a new stud through w/o actually pulling the shaft at all. Now this was with standard TJ studs, I'm not sure if it will work with extended studs or not.

so the only way to get them out is to hit em with a BFH?

isnt this bad on bearings and the races?

how hard is it to remove the axle shafts from the XJ D44? I might be able to use a press, or take the shafts to a differential shop and have them do it.

It's open diff, with ZJ disc conversion.

Thanks

Yeah hit it with a BFH on the bolt. They are tapered with grooves that hold em in there. Smack it once or twice and it should pop out. Do it backwards to put in new one.
