What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

I got time today at work to pick up my front driveshaft... then got a call.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

That sucks buddy..... so your drive shafts are ready now?

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

I said "drive shaft" not "shafts". I got the rear one done. I still need the front.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

yup but atleast with a rear and no front you can atleast drive it know..

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Yeah I know... It will be done. Even if Jay needs to come down the night before and help me. LMAO

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

got jeep back, they also replaced the fan belt along with the lifters and head bolts

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

In need a of good transmission shop please. My tranny is acting up bad.

Get your heads out of the gutters.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

I finally took apart my D44 so I can put in the Detroit and 4.56 gears and cut the old mounts off and put on the new ones.

and I got a surprise as I opened the axle. It is a limited slip diff...(what Jeep actually calls in there parts books "locking diff, but we know better)

So Kurt,
How much did it cost for getting your shaft lengthened?? (whilst our minds are in the gutters)

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

$133 but I found a cheaper place now.

BTW that is only because that free bottle of Extenz didn't work. (ok, I had to play into it.)

Hak-n-Tap: Done
Rear Drive shaft: Done.
8.8 fully attached and ready for fluids and to bleed the brakes. I hope Jay's brake lines hold.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Fixed the vibes I was getting. Almost ran my ass over with my Jeep in the process. No longer think I need a HackNTap! Just need a rebuild kit for my transfercase and front lift springs, then I can spend money on armor!

Like I said keep an eye on them as my double flarer was giving me issues.

Aw it not that bad, if I can get run over you can too......For anyone wondering...do not try to unbolt your trans shift lever arm on a slanted driveway with no wheel chocks...Kurt I need a beer was the only thing I could muster after saying Holy $hit (a few times) that was close.....

And if you do find yourself in that situation grab the drive shaft swing yourself to the passenger side and suck in your gut. I was able to watch the Jeep roll right over me then see how close the axle was to my face as it went over me too....

moral of my little experience use wheel blocks and the e-brake(if it works) and don't ask Kurt to try to grab it and stop it..:shhh::shhh::shhh:

I was in my covered parking spot at my apartment. Its barely got a slant to it. I was recentering the ujoint that goes onto the pinion on rear diff. I forgot to put the Jeep in 4wd before I crawled underneath. Took the ujoint straps off and the ujoint and driveshaft wouldn't budge.

I'm there thinking, WTF, it should just come right off. Gave it a few hard whacks...

THUNK. Well, that was e-oh explicative the Jeeps rolling back.

I was below the middle of the jeep, laying with my torso underneat the Jeep, and my legs flailing out from the Jeep. I grabbed on to the drivers side leaf spring and stopped it from rolling much further. Swung myself around, put a foot on the front wheel and managed to move around a little, get up, open the door, and pulled the transfer case lever.

Its a weird feeling being under your vehicle and having to hold it from rolling back. Guess Ill get me some wheel chocks.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?
